I visited your Brown's restaurant, 1 George square, Glasgow, on Thursday 21/7/2016, I arrived at 6.40 pm and was greeted at the door, I informed the staff i was bring 15 other guests, but would more than likely only having drinks, and the odd meal.

The staff said we were welcome to sit in bar area, and invited us to choice a area to sit, we choice to sit just inside the front door on the right as you entered.

Myself and a friend did order a dessert's, my friends dessert looked and tasted great, he ordered the Apple, cherry & Almond pie, I ordered the Red wine & vanilla poached pear, the look of my dessert was not very inviting, the taste was very strange, the baked meringue was very soft and not really baked, i would not order it again. ( I had expected it to look like a whole pear (not cut up) with small baked meringue and clotted cream around the edges, with a drizzal of sauce).

The bar staff were very helpful, polite, brought the drinks to the table, they even went as far as to make up a cocktail that wasn't on the list for one of my guest, which I feel is very excellent service. the bar area was very clean and tidy, the only point I would make, is the whole time we were there which was 6.40 pm til closing, the empty plates and glasses were not cleared away.

The look and the feel of the restaurant and bar, was it looked very clean and tidy, with a very friendly and welcoming look and feel.

In all we were made to feel very welcome, the cocktail and drinks were of a reasonable price, look and taste, the staff were very polite and helpful, and the venue was of a very clean and tidy standard.

Would I visit brown's Glasgow again with a large party or as a couple, then I would whole hearty have to say a very big yes,

We were part of a large group of 48 people, with a large number of senior citizens, who are travelling in a Trafalgar tour and had booked the restaurant before 12 noon for a dinner reservation. The menu was notified at least six hours before we arrived at 7.00 pm on a Friday evening.

Unfortunately, when we arrived there complete chaos prevailed. The service was pathetic and it took over an hour for the first course to be served. The quality of food was very unsatisfactory and no matter what excuse is offered, when the restaurant was aware of the menu and the fact that we would be arriving in the evening, proper arrangements should have been made. Otherwise they should have refused outright.

Ultimately it took us over three hours to have our three course meal with drinks.

Very disappointing experience.

Booked for 3 ladies for afternoon tea 20th February @ 2.30 p.m.& would not recommend for the following reasons:
1. Unfortunately no booking could be found, however, there was a table available.
2. 45 mins until champagne drinks arrived.
3. No milk with tea + tea & coffee cold - the waiter provided further warm drinks.
4. Scones rock hard - further scones provided.
5. Request to speak to Manager who informed us that as it was so busy the tea urn had difficulty keeping up with demand & the food had been made that day.
6. Manager did actually only charge us for drinks.
I have frequented a number of similar 4* establishments for afternoon tea & although a lovely place in the city centre it is not up to standard.

Went for works christmas lunch. After being seated late and served cold ( not very much) food, we were unceremoniously told to leave our table pretty much as soon as the puddings were cleared away... to stand over in the restricted bar area. This was with the bottles of wine and proseco we had bought with dinner (which we wouldn't have got if we'd known we wouldn't be able to sit and finish them, they had amazing cocktails!) and the cool stand for them, which there was no offer from staff to move for us we had to do it ourselves. Not impressed. Could get same poor food for much less at friendlier places. Restaurant (especially) and bar managers were both rude and arrogant. Would not recommend but if you do read your terms and conditions

This bar/restaurant is extremely busy during December. Our team Christmas lunch was booked for 2.45pm and could not be seated until the very last minute. The place was quite noisy as we had to speak really loudly to get heard even though we were on the same table... The food was okay but a big pricey for what it was... the Christmas 3 course lunch was £30.00 and we each paid £43 for meal and drinks... the soup was very bland and the dessert a bit small in size... I would not want to go back there for food in future.

I went to Brown's for lunch as part of a group of six. It's a large, modern spin on a traditional bistro and so it has a feel of forced authenticity about it. The food from the set menu was reasonably good quality, but nothing special. Portion sizes could have been larger and so the overall value for money of lunch was below average. The service was good overall, although we we kept waiting when it came to pay the bill. In summary, it's a safe, but underwhelming bet if you are visiting Glasgow.

Good menu , just a pity what was ordered did not materialise ............items missing from starter Ie. Chicken livers and black pudding , no black pudding.........came later with raspberry vinegar and rocket !
Fish cakes with samphire ..........no samphire...........came later again with rocket, must have extra rocket in kitchen !
Suggest kitchen staff read menu or look at menu pictures on kitchen wall.
Looks good and tastes good but would be better if all served at same time.

There was no attention to detail. Waited a long time to be seen by the maitre d'. Table was not ready at alotted time. Not given all the menus for specials of the day. Chose bottle of wine. Sold out. Ordered another. Sold out. Eventually got one. Eventually we got food but it was cold (roast dinner). No sauces were offerred, had to ask. Even had to ask for a teaspoon for the sauce. Desert was OK. Heard good things about this place but will just go back for drinks in the future.

The food was not very fresh. Went for brunch and got some pastries which were far from fresh/home made. The lobster didn't seem taste fresh either. The eggs, easiest thing to make were bland, and the avocadoes tasted off. The baked beans were tinned heinz. The pancakes were good though. Lovely and friendly staff just not good food. Definitely not for the money- although it's not that expensive. The smoothie was also good.

Absolutely awful ! We were a large crowd - two tiny finger rolls - smallest I have ever seen , tea so weak it was barely drinkable and one ramekin of clotted cream between 24 !! All served on big trays - no cake tiered holders for us . Must have had a glut on lemon posset though - they kept leaving that - ugh !! Oh and no butter for the scones - which were burnt and the size of a 50p - dreadful !!

Has the potential to be outstanding but unfortunately fell short. Despite being quiet we had long wait for our breakfast and when it arrived it was cold. I had eggs royale which would have been delicious had it not been cold. My guests had full breakfasts, also lukewarm and the miserable serving of black pudding was the final insult. Disappointed on what could have been special.

Ok for afternoon tea. Evening food not a good standard, had better, cheaper 'pub grub'. Manager and kitchen staff apparently thought our returned food tasted good!! Shame, lovely place, staff and service excellent, would like to give some staff more stars. Check you're actually putting salt on your dish as condiments were in wrong pots.

Beautiful setting, lovely brunch. It's a little bit dark inside, and I think that;s why it was so quiet on a beautiful sunny Sunday. They could do with some tables outside for brunch. Food is nice (but from fairly limited brunch menu) and cheaper than you'd expect given how fancy it was. Coffees were very good and beautifully presented.

Being here was like being stuck in an small elevator with a man who couldn't control his flatulence and just finished a super burrito..... It was bad.

Oh, and imagine that man charged you $40 to smell the stench of the burrito as it slowly went through his digestive track.

Dropped in on a Saturday lunchtime and had an extremely pleasant meal which was very good value. The service was excellent if a little slow but I was impressed by our waiter who double checked the food due to my wife's allergies. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Dropped in for cocktails and decent value happy hour. £5 for selected cocktails, mainly the more standard ones. Bar staff were fun and friendly with the whole atmosphere feeling quite upbeat. The dinner menu was what you'd expect for chain - usually something to please everyone.

Always a good meal here, it is a lovely environment to eat in and the prices are quite reasonable. The staff are pleasant but could do with being a bit more attentive, it can often be difficult to catch their attention.
Overall though a lovely place to each in the city centre.

Mediocre meal and staff (management)that can't handle simple maths. Staff got the bill wrong and when we told them, they couldn't do the simple maths and came back to tell us it was the right price, we then had to break it all down and explain why it was wrong.

Service, initially was terrible as the waiter was extremely ignorant and rude towards my partner and I. We had to ask for our starter, ask him to clear away dirt plates, meanwhile he was fussing over other diners and ignoring us. We had to ask for another waiter!!

Very busy at Xmas - queued to get our table and we waited longer than expected between courses but staff still wanted us out by the original time to let next group in. Wasn't too impressed with this but I suppose it's typical Xmas rush

Went for lunch. Very good food and service. The kind of place in town you can spend the afternoon drinking and eating in style. A must go. Reasonable prices and a good cocktail list with a decent selection of spirits and wine also.

Normally a good place in the city to go for good food and good environment. On the day in question, the food was terrible, something not expected. With this said they took two main courses off the bill without any problems.

I took my son here for chocolate making which was great fun. Then afterwards we had Sunday lunch which was delicious! Also the staff were great; very attentive and engaging. I would definitely recommend Brown's!!

Gives you the good food you'd expect from Browns and it has a good central location close to George Square. Unfortunately it took about 5 minutes for us to be seated or acknowledged despite there being no queue

My daughter and I had a lovely Afternoon Tea the only small complaint we had was that the Meringues were not home made and tasted like chalk!! (daughters words not that I feed her chalk) Home made next time maybe...

Always love to wind down with a cocktail in Brown's. Always busy with clientelle but never feel like 'just another customer'. Great service. Quick and efficient and most importantly friendly.

Visited for a Sunday roast. Very grand setting with live jazz on a Sunday. Food is pretty good and is about average price for a city centre of roast. Very conveniently located outside queen street station.

Good but not top notch food, when you get the bill you're paying for the location and the service as much as anything.
Understandably - the servers are brilliant and the location fantastic.

Loved this place on New Years eve. Great atmosphere, music, friendly staff (although some training), delicious food and right on George Square. Much more reasonable than Jamie Oliver next door.
