Wednesday night - phoned and they conformed they served till 10pm great pulled into a very quiet car park just after 9pm went in and was greeted with a sit anywhere response and we will book drinks etc on a tab my keen eye had clocked the cask beer and a pint and a half of moorhouses Black Cat were ordered one of our favourites, we took our beers to a table sat down and perused the menu, cheers the clink of the glasses nice suroundings was just about to fall down , beer not good , flat and warm oh dear never mind lets order, second mistake, Cod and chips for me and the Chicken for the better half, side order of baby new potatoes sounds good sorry none left , crispy then sorry none of them either, we should of headed for the hills then, meals arrived with the any sauces request and then gone never to be seen again from the very young waitress, our eyes met the plate and instant dissapointment very small cod , very poor portion of over done chips cold plate and a piece of lemon that looked a day old the better half was not inspired by her meal either 10mins later we were back in the car £28 worse off no point complaining as by now the young waitress was now behind the bar, the Black cat left behind along with our heartfelt disapointment, Out of 10 at best a 3 and that was for the surroundings the meal was at best worth a tenner, My advice is if you like something to eat on your plate and a pint to go with it DO NOT DINE HERE!

A Massive let down. A party of approximately 22 went for my nephew's 30th wedding anniversary, it had been booked prior. Him and his wife had flown from Australia to celebrate. We ordered food, there was a 2 hour wait for some mains, the food was average, if that, 3 times cooked chips ? They were OBVIOUSLY frozen chips. Never Again !!

20.5.2017. I am editing this post and adding this as it is the only way l can reply to the Owner's response to our visit last night.
Everybody in our party made sure we had a great time, my nephew had travelled from Australia to celebrate his 30th wedding anniversary with us. The only thing that took the edge off the night was the waiting time of the food which was ridiculous. Rather than the Owner apologise for the bog standard food and the wait we had, he has tried to deflect the argument to me being drunk and wanting 'after time drinking' at his pub ??. I can clearly see other people have complained about the food, waiting time, service etc. How desperate and malicious of you to try and keep your pub's 'good name'. Shame on you. Your reviews on Trip Advisor speak for themselves !!
2 words...DELUDED and JOKE !!

I meet my friend every few months in the Green Dragon for tea. We met last night 8/8/16. We chose a table for 2 in the back room, there were other people eating behind us in that room, so that made a nice atmosphere. When the waiter (which I think was possibly the Manager) came to our table he asked if we would like to move to another table-not sure why? I said politely if it was OK we'd stay there-this didn't seem to please him. We ordered 2 diet cokes. He served 2 cokes, we were chatting & I only realised after 10mins. When I asked him to change mine for a diet coke please he snapped & said that was what we had ordered. He never spoke to us again! He brought a diet coke for me. He then brought our food (main course only). He took our plates. He never offered a dessert menu or coffee. This pub is now table service. The food was lovely and so was the girl behind the bar when we paid. This man was so rude it was unbelievable and if he was the Manager then his attitude was disgusting. I never write reviews but I was so annoyed with his manner, I was nothing but polite to him-however he was not polite back!

Nice pub but service wasn't great on the day we visited. The waiting staff are lovely but very young so maybe not experienced and lack direction. We were seated then waited 30 minutes for some one to take our order even though it was quiet. The other tables who had eaten wanted there bill or desserts there didn't seem to be any waiting staff for ages then 3 appeared. The food was nice but the wrong order was served and we couldn't get anyone's attention during the meal to reorder drinks so ended up going over to the bar. I don't like to think what it would be like on a busy day, maybe double up your drink orders. I plan to go again in the nice weather as the beer garden looked nice also dogs are welcome. Maybe we went on a day they were short of staff so will give it another go, definetly think they need a head waiter who can direct the younger staff.

Went out for a walk in Lymm with the kids and dog on a very cold day, we were all so cold we thought we would pop into a pub for a drink and a snak. As we had our dog with us and we parked in your car park and I was sent ahead to see if we could come in with our dog and muddy boots. Then I saw your sign 'dog's and muddy boots' welcome.

What a welcome, a biscuit for our dog ,friendly and courteous staff who couldn't have been more welcoming. In the end we had 2 x Sunday roasts and two vegetarian roasts and I have to say it's one of the best Sunday lunches I've had in a long time.

Keep up the good work, We will be back!

Went here on a Tue evening around 6:30pm. The place looks nice, the outside area is nice but, sadly the food was a let down. I had a steak pie with chips, other half had gammon, the plates were hot which was a plus but the food was just tasteless. The pastry on the pie looked good it had a nice texture but no taste, the steak was cooked well but again it was extremely bland, even the veg and the chips had nothing going for them and both meals were the same. More flavor in a cardboard box. Shame really because if the food had even managed cheap caff status we may have come back because of the nice garden. When they sack the cook they should let me know lol.

Mediocre at best. Ordered wexford creamy mushrooms to start and they were luke warm. Pub was virtually empty but still took half hour to come. Told the waitress and she said sorry I'll let them know. Another 20 mins before the main came which was three cheese and potato pie. It had been cremated and the pastry had to be stabbed with the knife to be broken in to small enough pieces to eat. Although it was hot this time it was terrible. The filling was sloppy and didn't taste nice. We didn't have a sweet. I had a pint of wainwrights and it was that poor I left 3/4 of it. Won't be returning.

Four of us had a meal here today...2 had the roast beef dinner and that was good apart from the cauliflower cheese which was hard and not cooked..i had the burger meal and was shocked by the small portion of chips, was more like a kids meal...my daughter had the hunters chicken with Gammon..the chicken was over cooked as was the Gammon..also I dont think there was more than 10 chips on her plate. We waited 1 hour for our meals and at no point did anyone come over to apologise for the wait or explain the delay. Also on the roast you got the smallest pot of gravy ever and we had to ask for more..very dissapointed

Me and me partner went to this pub for lunch. I had that lamb duo and he had fish and chips. Food seemed Ok whilst being eaten but by the time I got back home and I suddenly felt queasy and was instantly sick. I was ill for the rest of the night and had to take time off work the following day. Not to mention that I am 7 months pregnant. Then my partner also got ill the next day, I believe it to have been the lamb as he tried some of my lamb. Think kitchen staff need to rethink how they cook/clean/prepare food! The waitress also was slow and had no personality. Will not be returning!!

I have been here two or three times over the last couple of years. Both times it has been quite good. I would rate the food at 8.5/10 the service at 9/10 and overall 8.5/10. The only thing possibly letting it down would be the prices.

I know people who have been there since ,my last visit and they haven't rated it because the food has been poor and the service hasn't been very good. However I find this hard to believe.

Hadn't had a roast in a while so popped online to secure a table at this popular venue, happily for me there were quite a few spaces. We turned up shortly after and were seated quickly, the food came quite quickly and was really tasty, almost as good as home cooked food but not quite. Keep up the good work.

We will be back

Really lovely pub. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Food was good quality pub stuff with a varied menu. Staff were lovely and helpful. Went on a Friday afternoon and I felt the service could have been a bit quicker. It wasn't that busy. Tiny issue in otherwise a lovely lunch meal. Would go again definitely.

It's OK, average pub food, reasonable selection of beers, friendly staff (but not many of them) easy parking, nice outdoor area, but nothing to say 'come again'.

Just missing a bit of a buzz, even after a recent refurb and coat of paint. If you're passing it's OK.

A group of 8 of us went yesterday 31/08/2017 for our mums 92nd birthday, I ordered a medium rare steak. It was awful, I couldn't chew it, it was full of fat and gristle. When the landlord or manager came to take our plates I complained but no apology and nothing done. I was quite disgusted

Service so slow sat down at 1.45pm didn't get out until 17:14pm, food simple but took ages to cook. Had to send my food back as it was missing onions from all 3 steak sandwiches! Cake was lovely and steak cooked well. If i. A rush avoid otherwise you have all day to socialise.

Great place to go for a pub lunch. They accommodated our big group excellently and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was served in good time and the portions were big, and very delicious. Hope to come back soon. Would definitely recommend!

Visited 5/2/2018 for an evening meal with my wife. We really enjoyed the food and the cosy atmosphere. A special thank you for our waiter Perry who was very friendly and polite. He made our visit all the more enjoyable. Looking forward to our next visit.

I like this place a lot. The food and wine is really good and it is a really good environment to take friends and family.

I leave left a star as the service is sometimes a little bit slack and there is a lack of rapport building with their staff.

A lovely meal. Lamb shank beautifully cooked and presented. Likewise Caesar salad with salmon. Service was excellent by George. Much appreciated. Thoughtful and polite. Worsley Woodside (also Vintage) take note!! Will come again soon.

Really nice atmosphere, brilliant food, a nice pint, nice people, nice garden. What is there not to like? The man who I assumed was the owner was nice too. Give it a go, I'm going today can't wait

Part of a traditionally themed chain, but for the most part You can't really tell. The surrounding area is very pleasant and rural.
Food used to be better, but still is good for the price.

First went 10yrs ago and was not nice. Decided another try. Worst pub ever. Late food was not advised on ordering. Overpriced and definitely worst pub ever. Do not go but try Barn Owl Close by

Good, friendly local pub.

Food is good though it does get busy on a saturday night so you may need to book.

Drinks are reasonable price for the area with a decent range.

Fantastic place. Lovely staff great food. Never had a bad meal. Really nice ambience that is balanced between country pub feel and traditional restaurant. Large outdoor seating in the summer.

Really awful food - vegetables were stale, steak was disgusting. Awful customer service. Manager was rude and then threw me out at half 11 while I was waiting for a taxi. Shocking. Avoid.

My wife went to this today with her friends - she was not impressed. Service slow and not very helpful - bit rude in fact. Food was just about acceptable - average pub grub.

I had rated them 4* but has gone down hill fast recently. Bad somehow under and over cooked food on the same plate and service that would make Fawlty Towers look fantastic.
