Not worth visiting. A typical tourist trap. Visit once and regret it. Untrained staff and over expensive food but it doesn't matter because the mugs will be going home soon and more will soon follow with their money, once.

OK you want specifics ... here you go

1. Waitress didn't speak enough English to be able to understand our drinks order without going away and returning for clarification 3 x times.

2. Table position by the door not only caused aggravation by being knocked by everyone entering or leaving but was a positive fire risk.

3. Starter of soft-shell crab was a single crab - nigardly to say the least in my opinion.

4. Starter of charcuterie without any form of bread - see 3 above.

5. Disposable serviettes are normally provided at a rate of one per person not two between a table of six.

6. In a restaurant which serves ma├Čnly fish it was a complete surprise to the server to discover that there were such things as fish knives and, of course, none were available.

7. We ordered a Pinot blush but were served a normal Pinot. The server's reaction when this was pointed out was 'Oh do you want me to change it then?'

It was my wife's birthday treat and was made a great disapointment.

Was recommended this place to eat whilst down here camping. The atmosphere and smell as you walk through the door is fantastic.Best book this in advance cause it's cosy but with a relaxed feel to it.Staff were great and couldn't do enough for you, smiley and chirpy. The choice of food isn't extravagant, which isn't a criticism, what they do have, they do extremely well. All freshly prepared and SO worth the wait.We had a table of 8,6adults and our two children.Good portion sizes for children, and we'll belly busting spaghetti meatbals for me!! The sardines were just amazing and drink choice was good also.If anything could be improved,I'd suggest air conditioning when the doors and widows are shut on not such sunny days. Also,if you're not strong on your legs, the walk down to this place can be tricky, but car par is 5 mins up a gradual steep hill. The web site for Sam's wasn't working when I tried several times but I guess this is just bad luck.Well worth the visit,Thankyou Mike Brown

We got food poisoning !!
Absolutely horrible experience. We orderd hot prawns which were overcooked and fish: sea bas and cornish plaice.
The fish was absolutely swimming in oil and also the fries that came with the cornish plaice. You could actually squeeze the oil out of the fries.
This was the only food we had that day. By the time we got home my whife had stomac cramps. Next day both of us were in so much stomac pain, nausea, and all the other simtomps that come with severe food poisoning . We could not sleep all night and we had to call 111. This is the 3rd day of pain and not eating because of Sams on the Beach.
Save your selves an awaful experience and avoid this place.

The decor and ambience is modern and fun, the setting on the beach just can't be beaten especially when the sun shines.
The food is fantastic best pizza outside of Italy, and always consistent. I have had parties here for larger numbers and taken all sorts of age groups from kids to older family members (need to drop them off tho', because the walk back up to the car park is very steep). And everyone has loved it.The staff are just lovely, casual but very attentive. Just try it and you won't be disappointed.

Amazing view, amazing food with generous portions (not always the case with fish restaurants). I can't comment on the pizza, tapas etc. as we always have fish of the day. Never disappointed and a pleasure to have some more adventurous flavour combinations than simply butter and lemon (not that I don't love that too!). The Thai mussels with sea bream was great and the sole was simply superb. Perfectly cooked. Love the vibe, it's great for families, and keeps the original lifeboat house features. Thanks chef!

Perfect! Great food, Great atmosphere, Great staff, and as it says on the board... The view isn't bad either. We were lucky enough to be their at sunset enjoying our Seafood and Vegi pizzas, which were great ( yup four greats and a delicious ). This is our second visit in two years and it's the favourite place above all. Amazing to think that they've been going since 1988, it feels very relaxed, which just adds to how special the place is.

Terrible service. Had called in and was told it was fully booked. So we were prepared to wait. When we got there, we asked for a table and 1 was going to be available soon and was not booked. Whilst we waited outside and even ordered, the same table was given away. When asked, we were treated as ignorants. Did not help there was a subtle tinge of racism in the air. I don't have this experience in London and did not face it elsewhere in Cornwall.

Turned up on a busy day with kids. No tables free so had to get take out, only pizza available. Asked to get fries but they refused. Then this couple with a dog walk in, manager liked the dog so she gave them fries. 1 toilet wasn't clean and was blocked.
Really not family friendly, seemed more interested in seeming to be the cool local place. Sad really, good service is not hard. Pizza was ok, only redeemable part of our experience. Avoid.

Had lunch at Sam's.. nice setting.. however asked for medium rare steak and received a very overdone and incredibly dry rib eye.. not 10oz either.. also had the surf and turf.. with both cold and cooked prawns.. the cooked prawns very underdone.. Been quite ill all day due to this.. it's the only thing I have eaten out of the usual! Its a shame as my partners fish was lovely apparently..

This place is great, went last night, the atmosphere was great a real buzz, the food was superb I had the John dory and scallops and my partner has the belly pork, all piping hot when arrived at the table, and cooked to perfection, the staff were very polite and could not do enough for you, a real credit to the restaurant, I would highly recommend could not fault it in any way

Exquisite experience !
Booked a table for 4 on a sunny afternoon.
Got there the staff was so cheerful and friendly.
Then we ordered, the food arrived rapidly, but it was incredibly delicious.
If I come around once again, will come for sure at 'Sams on the beach'

We loved this place. The food is fantastic (we had the shared seafood platter) and the restaurant has a great vibe. Food came quickly and tasted amazing, particularly the mussels and soft shell crab. The service was slick and friendly and the music was also bang on. Thoroughly recommended!

Perfectly located with view of the sea , spacious, light, simple and stylish interior. Excellent staff who are very relaxed and friendly without being intrusive. The food was absolutely wonderful, beautifully presented and generous. Would be a regular if I didn't live 300 miles away!

Great food in a great and interesting location. The restaurant is based in an old lifeboat house and restored immaculately. The views and position on the beach was great. Perfect for lunch or dinner. Thoroughly recommend - book to ensure you have a spot for dinner.

Absolutely fantastic food. I had the belly pork which was sublime and they went out of their way to accommodate my fussy other half who didn't like anything on the menu. Terrific service would and will come back! The lemon roulade dessert was to die for.

Been here quite a few times, love the location and the food is very good, used to swim to Polkerris from Par as a kid. Had really bad food poisoning once from the mussels but I understand that there was a problem throughout Cornwall a couple of years ago.

Nice restaurant off the beach in old lifeboat station. Had some great sea food. Has nice seating outside that is mostly first come first served - whereas you need to book if you want to go in the restaurant esp during summer

It seems like I'm going against the tide here but I found Sams on the Beach quite an average experience. The food was just okay but the staff and location were lovely. Perhaps we dined on an off day.

Just want to say how lovely the staff were to me and my partner. Katie and Georgia especially. Their food was outstanding and the service was the cherry on top! Thankyou to Adele also for a warm welcome. Will be back

Excellent food, beautiful location. It's a little expensive, but for freshly caught seafood eaten on the waterfront, it can't be beaten. It can be hard to get a table though, so book well in advance.

Great seafood and pizza, good options for specials. On the front overlooking the ocean and pretty beach of Polkerris. Wish they had an ale on tap but just being picky. You can always get a beer next door!

Always busy for good reason. We have visited many times and the food and service has always been great. Nice views and good atmosphere. The belly pork is excellent. Booking recommended.

We only had time to have a pint here but the location is wonderful. Going by the food served at their Fowey restaurant we regretted that we did not have more time to sample their menu.

Wonderful, friendly, family atmosphere. Impeccable service (with real smiles) and some of the best fish I have ever eaten. World class! Definitely go there!!

We had the seafood platter...amazing!! Its practically right on the breach with great staff and even the choice of music being played was quality.

As some reviewers have mentioned pizza or seafood but the the seafood.....oh so delicious. Great atmosphere, i.e. small but we'll spaced out.

Delicious food, fantastic staff and a great view of the sea in an old lifeboat house. Incomparably better than the original Sam's in Fowey.
