I first decided to visit this pub on a sunny Friday, the main draw being the beer garden, which had come highly recommended by friends and fellow reviewers alike. Upon entering, the pub seemed unusually quiet for a Friday evening. Purchasing a pint from the fairly decent range of beers, I wandered outside and was greeted by one of the most pleasant beer gardens I have seen in London, neat and clean and with plenty of benches to soak up the last of the suns rays. As it got dark, pretty fairy lights twinkled as my companions and I enjoyed our drinks. Retiring inside with a slight chill in the air, the pub was completely empty bar one other customer. I felt this was a real shame as it meant our last drinks did seem to lack atmosphere - helped along slightly however by some excellent song selections by the tavern team. I think this would be the perfect pub in which to spend a lazy, local sunny afternoon and I do hope to visit again before the summer is over.

This pub could be great but the management allow a contingent of very crass, loud and rude men to congregate around the bar. They are both aggressive and potty mouthed. When I left after visiting today they gave me a barrage of homophobic abuse for nothing more than leaving the place and for no other reason than they felt like it. The manager told me when I arrived that they are not busy and that they have a different clientele from their nearest competitor. The regular clientele aforementioned are odious people and have no place in a decent, thriving business - which is definitely why this one is not. Maybe when the management realise this and do something about these people the pub will gain the custom they desire. As it is I, and I'm sure, everyone like me will not be going back any time soon.

Tradition facade that invites the more curious inside, a dark wood theme runs throughout the pub. The outside garden is really well thought out and it's no nonsense style creates a welcoming and casual atmosphere. Food here is certainly better than most other gastro pubs in East Dulwich

I LOVE this pub! It makes a fantastic Sunday Roast. Good beer. Good outdoor area. Plenty of seats both inside and out. Dog friendly. (They love when I bring my dog in.) The toilets are easy to access (not down any stairs or anything) and are reasonably clean. Very friendly staff.

A good place to go and have a drink, if you're on the lookout for a large pub with lots of people and really friendly staff. The prices are the same as in all other typical pubs, nothing extraordinary except for the live music, it's great, you should check it out!

A delicious lunch of chicken and leak pie, served in a traditional pie tin, and covered in a fine pastry. Enjoyed lunch in the beer garden surrounded by herbs and shrub plants planters. Plenty of space and very friendly service. I shall come again.

Now my local; the herne tavern is both a great winter and summer pub with open fires and a huge beer garden...an unfussy selection of beers and great food-especially the Sunday lunch- make for a pub worth visiting if you're nearby

Very friendly staff and the food was excellent, well cooked using fresh ingredients. The vegetarian roast was awesome best I've ever had. Typical posh boozer....that all pubs have now come to be. Never the less a nice friendly one

I'm with James on the foul mouthed locals who hog the bar and treat it like their own. Add to that an overpriced frozen burger and I won't be going back. Shame, as it's a good looking boozer with a good garden.

Love this pub especially in summer and early autumn. The garden is great! Love sitting there surrounded by the fruit trees and flower beds. Have tried the food as well and it's really nice.

This place has been my local for the past 9 years. The current management have worked very hard creating the best beer garden in the area. It's a great place to unwind. Well worth a visit

A lovely little pub by the park in East Dulwich / Peckham... depends on who you're talking to. Plenty of space in the garden for families and they show a bit of sport on the TVs.

Usually very quiet in here nowadays. Probably because it's so pricey. Good selection of beers and other drinks, and a great garden.

Nice pub decor. Cold inside. Pub ran out of all food on a Sunday evening. Left me hungry. Fun quiz on a Sunday night.
