Parking near house on a bank. Steps in garden down to the house or path to house from the road. lovely small garden. House didn't open until 1pm so didn't look around it but looked very interesting. Some restoration work was going on hence scaffolding

A bit of a gem in the lakes. The description in the NT handbook doesn't do it justice. The volunteers were helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the building and surrounding views made the journey along the narrow lane well worth while.

A very interesting national trust property of a generation of farm families. The house is fairly small but still has quite a few interesting features. Great place to visit on a walk from Ambleside to Troutbeck.

Amazing historic farmhouse. You have to be there at specific times to get the guided tours and numbers are very limited. Great for family but not very little ones. Steep steps and stairs. Some very rare books.

Visiting this place was like moving back in time, amazing experience. Staff and volunteers are doing a great job, making the place very welcoming, and their vast knowledge makes it so much more interesting.

Town End is a perfectly preserved home with original contents intact. A visit is to step back in time to the days when the house was occupied by the Browne family. A little gem.

An interesting place to visit, made more so by the volunteers who explain the details within the house. The garden further reflects the care invested in it's upkeep.
