After some unfortunate circumstances staying at a friends house in Sheffield on a short holiday, my girlfriend and I had to find a hotel to stay in; so we picked this one as it had good reviews and was reasonably priced from what we could see of the standards.

It was early on Tuesday morning when we had to vacate our friends house, so being very tired and stressed, by the prior incident with our friend, we arrived at the Copthorne hotel. Good parking... Looked promising...

Then we were 'greeted' by the member of the night service team... And how disappointing it was.

As we had to leave promptly from our friends my girlfriend and we were in our nightwear (nothing exposing or lude, just pyjamas), and he proceeded to eye us up and down for five minutes before even considering taking us through to the lobby to discuss our stay!

We felt extremely uncomfortable and was appalled at the attitude of the staff member and after an insulting experience, we left very disappointed.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Unless there is a drastic improvement to the attitude of staff and the judgemental snobbery of that one particular member of the night-team, I would never consider this a place to stay.

How can anyone calling themselves a 'professional' in the hotel and hospitality industry, adopt such a disgusting approach to how they treat patrons to their business?

I am glad to say there a much friendlier places to stay in Sheffield!

Extremely disappointing experience.

Stayed for one night at the beginning of April 2017
As it was my partners first hotel stay, I wished for a special stay at a nice hotel.
We booked a club room with a king bed.
The room was nice apart from a large stain on the carpet.
Ordered room service, food was top quality.
My partner and myself both smoke, the hotel has a no smoking policy so we went outside the main entrance lobby for a cigarette, this was around 11pm.
I asked a young night porter how to gain access back into the hotel and of which he was rude and arrogant with his reply.
We both ignored this and continued to enjoy our stay.
Looking forward to a good sleep, we found that the 'king' bed was actually what we presumed to be 2 singles pushed together.
I mentioned the next morning to staff and was informed that it was a zip bed that hadn't been 'zipped' together?
We checked out, paid the £170 balance and left.
Two days later whilst shopping, I discovered my bank had another £170 withdrawn by the Copthorne hotel.
I made a few phone calls to the hotel, they were adamant there was no error when there clearly was.
After they realised they had made the mistake, I was offered a 'complimentary' room!
Four times asking to take up this offer over a 3/4 month period and been denied, I've given up on the complimentary room.
Thanks Copthorne, won't be staying again.

Nice room and easy walk to town. The only problem room wise was there needs to be more tea and coffee supplied in the rooms.

Breakfast is so disorganised and the only contact you can get with staff members is when you walk in for them to show you to your tableand they if you need anything give me a shout. Yeah right, after that if want to order something like Eggs Benedict, which is not in the self serving breakfast then your screwed unless you pay for the more expensive rooms. 15 times we tried to get the attention of staff members we gave up in the end.

So here's my advise if you stay here, and it is nice to stay here, just get breakfast else where you probably get the breakfast your dietary requirements require or the one you want.

Not spent a night here so can't comment on that but we did go to 'breakfast with Santa' there this year.
Gotta say I'm impressed. Food was great, entertainment that was laid on was very good (face painting was very good and free) and thought was actually put in to making sure Santa actually looked and acted like Santa. (trust me, some places are worse than the movie 'Bad Santa')
The staff were also very kind and helpful and had smiles on their faces, which to be fair is more than I would've had if i had to work Xmas eve.

Am I allowed to give it an extra star for the Sheff Utd items dotted about the place?

Friendly and efficient staff at check in. My room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was a let down though. Had to wait for quite a while to see a member of staff so I I could provide my room number prior to entering the restaurant. The member of staff didn't even speak, no 'good morning' or anything. The food was ok but nothing special, had to wait a long time for a fried egg, by the time I was given it most of my other food was cold. Overall, a nice hotel but let down by the staff working in the chaotic restaurant at breakfast.

We went for fish and chips on a Groupon deal, paid £10 instead of the alledged £27. So it gets 3 stars because it was edible, still feel s bit ripped off with frozen chips and thin pieces of fish in thick batter but there you go. If I had paid the full price I would not have been happy and think maybe we were given a cheap option. If the idea of Groupon is to show how good your place is you just lost out on that.

My Husband and myself Stayed at the Copthorne Hotel Bramall Lane on the 21th March there was a football match on at the time but the services was excellent. Signing in to signing out the Reception staff were attentive and informative. Breakfast was excellent lots of choice and very fresh. Would defiantly recommend. Perfect weekend. Thank you.

The Copthorne in Sheffield is a warm and welcoming hotel. Check in is always swift. the rooms are all consistently clean and well presented and the bathrooms are luxurious. Food is a little pricy but the breakfast is second to none. I always choose this hotel over any other when coming to Sheffield.

Plenty of car parking spaces available as we pulled up. Check in was nice and easy. Room was decent sized and nice and modern decor. Bar is expensive but that is to be expected I suppose. We didn't eat here as we went out for the night on our Christmas do.

Stopped overnight as it was close to dressy function we were attending. Room was nice, hotel is modern was very busy. Very popular with wedding parties. Reception courteous and efficient, I checked in a couple of hours before my partner and this was handled smoothly.

This is a lovely hotel & we received a really nice welcome on our arrival. We were upgraded to a club room which had complimentary refreshments. The hotel has an award winning restaurant and there was a good choice at breakfast. I would stay at this hotel again.

View wasn't great looking over Bramall Lane but the room was excellent! Great bed, clean; good decor but if anything a little warm. We also don't know how to work the bathroom light or bath but that's probably our fault, not the hotel's.

Attended a company training session. Decent size room but trainers struggled with the projector screen that made presentation very dark. Also room was freezing because of air con. Liked the hot drinks and pastries though.

Excellent service. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff. Rooms are of a good size. Wish everywhere had free wifi like here, it's not much to ask, but other hotels seem to want to squeeze that last bit from you.

Nice food but overpriced and small portions
. Service bad. Had to ask for menus after sitting for 10 minutes. 1 hour later only had starter. No staff. All tables complaining about service. Not 4 Star standard

Nice, large room. I was woken up a few times by people coughing, bath being ran and alarm clocks from other rooms. I generally expect rooms to be better sound proofed than this. Breakfast was quite good.

Stayed here on a business trip recently. Very surprised how classy it was for such a reasonable price. Planning to come back here for a weekend break with the girlfriend next year. Highly recommend it.

Nice hotel. Next to Bramall Lane, though we stayed off season so was nice and quiet. Good size rooms and decent beds. Breakfast had a nice selection. Easy access to the city centre and free parking.

very poor service, no parking for extra cars. expensive compared to travel in, and was not happy at all with the rooom. the worst bit was that there was no complimentary tea. would not stay again.

Comfortable room and lots of space. Close to the centre, only a few minutes walk, but far enough to be away from the busy, noisy centre. Lots of parking and free to come and go through the day.

Very nice hotel. Seemed expensive to book but when you look at the free breakfast and 2 x free drinks at the bar! Works out very good. Lovely clean rooms very close to city centre great place

Business-like feel. Spacious room. Immaculate bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was OK - the best scrambled eggs I've had in a hotel. TV worked fine but was a little old-tech.

Rooms were nice and clean, however the customer service was god awful and the parking isn't great when you turn up on a match day as it shares the car park with the football ground.

Went here for office Xmas party, wasn't impressed at all. Only bar was downstairs, so staff had to keep going down for drinks. The room we were in felt rather dated. Food was meh

The room is very good, nice, clean and good looking. Location is also great, a 10 minute walk from the town centre. And service seems good too. Not had anything to complain about

Decent hotel just outside Sheffield city centre. Clean modern rooms and nice bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Windows a touch noisy and barely any plug sockets in the room though.

Room was excellent, plenty of space and things like iron and board provided in the room without needing to request them. Bathroom very nice as well, and breakfast was great.

Fantastic Hotel, great location and brilliant staff that were very helpful in directing me to my meeting. The hotel was very clean and stylish, a great experience overall.

Very disappointed with this meal, presented well but quality of fish very poor and chips didn't taste of anything at all. Wouldn't recommend. Service good.
