Thought we would try here for a Sunday roast after seeing it listed in top 10 best pubs for a meal One member of staff the one with dreadlocks was rude and abrupt with myself and other customers seriously needs to learn customer relations
We were very disappointed for what they charge for it Sunday roast consisted of 3 roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, 5 baton carrots, 1 small piece of broccoli, 2 small parnips, 3 pieces of courgette, Pre packed beef and the tiniest amount of gravy I've ever seen probably 2 tablespoons shocking for what they charged definitely won't go here again guys don't waste your money !!!
Bad staff Bad food !

Visited this pub yesterday, it was an awful experience. Bar staff are slow and discourteous when I tried to order a coke. It took ten minutes of waiting before my drinks order was taken then the bar staff told me that she had to serve someone else and was left to wait longer. Poor service and attitude from staff forced me to walk out. This venue also appears badly managed as waiting staff were not removing plates from the beer garden efficiently. Friends accompanying me were waiting outside and no one removed previous customers plates and left overs. Unimpressed by the service, we went into Southwold for food.

Expensive for a pub in Suffolk. Menu looks good. Wife and I had sandwiches (crayfish tails
and also a cheese and Suffolk chutney). The contents of both sandwiches were nice. But the bread (white) in both sandwiches was dry like they had been pre-cut and left out for a while. The pub itself is quite nice. Decent toilets and there is a nice (and quite large) garden. Plenty of places to sit. Needs to up its game a bit on the food front as I guess there is some complacency that there aren't that many places to eat around here.

My boyfriend and I have decided to have a get away into the countryside and are staying in The Bell Inn for the weekend. The room is lovely and cosy! The food is tasty and doesn't leave you feeling hungry after. The staff could be a bit more accommodating to the residents of the hotel. Breakfast slot is very small 9:00 - 9:30!! We weren't even aware we missed it. The lady at the bar was short and sarcastic to my boyfriend when he asked for dessert when he wasn't aware the kitchen was closed for the night.

Refused to serve us food at 2.35. No signs saying they stopped at 2.30. Took 5 mins to find a clean table and make a quick choice. We asked for grace as had 2 kids in our party of 6 but were told a blank and rude no. Couldn't have cared less. Worse the grumpy bar lady said nowhere local was serving now...but of course i call the anchor and they say yes they are v busy but will accommodate...if I owned the bell i would be very annoyed. Lost money and future custom. It was 5 mins.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff but the food was thoroughly undercooked. Wife ordered fish pie and it came out cold, had to be sent back. Ham, egg and chips... Glazed ham was cold (assured by staff this how they served it but I doubt that). Poached egg was very watery, not done enough.

I guess a packed place is not always a good indicator of good food.

Added a star because the desert was done well and they took the fish pie off bill.

Turned up at Bank holiday to find the pub very quiet. Customers here get served at random regardless of who's first . Ignored while three customers got served before me and they arrived later.
The same sloppy attitude continued outside in the beer garden where every table was overflowing with glasses, obviously there for hours. Once a nice sea view ruined by building site. Will try The Anchor up the road next time.

Visited in a large group as we do annually following a family crabbing session. We have been visiting for a number of years and each has been problem free, however this year the management were abrupt and discourteous, and the majority of the food was under par. An overcooked childrens meal, and a crab-shy crab salad amongst the disappointments. We will be reconsidering our venue for next year.

We went for an evening meal. Slightly worried by some negative comments before we went. However, the negative comments could not have been further from the truth. The food was truly excellent, my pan fried sea bass was delicious. Fish pie superb, and the veggie option was also very tasty. Staff friendly and attentive, and food came out on time piping hot.
Highly recommended.

As a drinking pub it's got pretty much everything, although I can safely say I really don't rate the food, the fish is ok, but everything served with chips- oven cooked chips, this is always a big no for me especially when paying over £13 for a main course, very unfair to the public who can cook these meals for less than half the money, it's dishonest and lazy

Had lunch here in May 2012, Fish and Chips cooked to perfection! service was good, the Adnams beer was gorgeous, staff helpful and friendly, cant understand the negative feed back that has been written about The Bell !! We are planning to book a room and spend a long weekend there soon!
Well done to all the staff, your hard work and efforts ARE appreciated!!!

We visited 2 years ago and loved the food, which was then great quality and exceptional value for money. On a return trip we couldn't resist treating ourselves and had such a disappointment! Near inedible, and certainly worlds away from the delicious meal we'd eaten before. How can you justify those prices and serve oven chips?? We were so upset! :(

I live locally to the bell and thought it would be nice to take my parents for a meal. We had to wait for a very long time for 4 x fish and chips. Once it came the chips were cold and seem to have been oven cooked. The fish was so overcooked it wasnt edible. The only plus was the beer. Needless to say we dindnt pay and I wont be going back in a hurry!

Lovely location. Service in the beer garden was slow at a sunny lunch time - no table numbers so it was distracting having waiters walking round shouting names all the time. Child friendly. Delicious soup of the day (spicy parsnip and coriander) but bread not special and price more typical of the area than reflective of the food.

Had lunch there today. Burger with chips and a small pot of salad costs £12. The burger was dry and the chips were few. Over priced and over cooked is my assessment of the food. Child meals are £6 or £7 and they don't have kiddies drinks so it's three quid for a J2O. I live locally but I wont be going back.

A good menu selection with inside and outside dining available, don't forget to take a look at the specials board. This is an Adams pub and as the beer isn't going far from Southwold it is the same good quality ale. Good pub all round but gets very busy at the height of the season.

It should be a four plus but Unfortunately there were sticky tables during a quite afternoon visit and in need of a freshening up around the skirting , attention to detail seems not a priority.
The beer , food is good and the charm along with the ambiance is lovely.

Food is good, Service a bit slow but the building is lovely. Staff not great as they wouldn't help us plug our electric car in. No real attempt at making it work despite simply needing a 3 pin plug point. Shame as the pub is perfectly located and has a very nice garden.

Had lunch at the bell on Saturday, very friendly quick service, enough room for the pram by the table, the food was delicious. Especially my wife's hallomi dish that was on the special board. Very reasonably priced. Good selection of food on the menu.

We arrived on a busy bank holiday at 11:45 and got a seat in the back bar area. Nice and spacious seating compared to the front of the pub where it was just too busy to stand and felt like a maze to get out. Great, friendly staff however.

Had lunch with a group of friends. The pub is small but cozy, with an open fire . The food was lush. I would go there again. We sat in the dining room, which was light and a great place to sit with such a large group as we were.

Decent fish and chips, excellent beer, lovely atmosphere. There are often loads of children here during early evening so child-friendly, without being a madhouse. Exactly what you should expect from a local pub.

Good beer, good atmosphere, good service but some how last time we visited the food was better. Food was ok but in my recollection was better at out previous visit hence 3☆ rather than 4☆ on this occasion.

Went for lunch at the restaurant, fun family atmosphere with adequate outdoor seating. Massive burger although slightly overdone, with options for everyone on the menu with children and teenager sections.

Really had a great experience here, the staff are really friendly, there is a very nice variety of food and it's just a very nice atmosphere, it's also got a beer garden with a view of the sea.

Great pub in Walberswick. Food was good and service was fine.

Chips taste almost exactly like McDonald's... Pretty darn tasty without the 'I ate at McDonald's' shame.

Good food and beer. We had an excellent vegetarian dish. Quite quiet on this particular visit - probably due to the poor weather - but it's usually very busy. Friendly staff. Very relaxing pub.

I've always had a great experience at the Bell. What a lovely garden to sit and relax in with a great meal and a great drink. Plenty of tables outside in the back and a great place for dogs.

One of the best pubs I have been to. The beer taste's fantastic and the inside of the pub is cosy and interesting. The food is delicious as well whatever you seem to have. Love this place.
