The worst hotel I have EVER stayed at. Common areas are ok but the bedrooms are disgusting. So dirty, mould in the bathroom, a filthy shower curtain, tiles hanging off the wall above the toilet so you were nervous sitting on it, miniscule towels, scratchy blankets, a tiny TV that didn't work at all, only two power sockets, very poor quality bed linen, dirt on floor that hadn't been hoovered, glasses in bathroom grubby, bathroom radiator that didn't work, cheap shower curtain (Asda) very cheap shower head, grime on taps, one tap broken, a door onto the 'balcony' that you couldn't open or shut, dreadful car park with a lot of spaces taken up by hotel rubbish, staff couldn't care less and, very tellingly, didn't ask if we had a good stay! I have stayed at many basic hotels whilst travelling but they are normally clean. to have a really poor quality room that is filthy is totally unacceptable - I didn't ask to be moved because we were there for barely 12 hours and it seemed that most of the rooms were no better. Shocking.

Beautiful characteristic period hotel, bar and spa located in the heart of the wonderful town of Lewes. The White Hart Hotel is like stepping back in time 400 years, wonderfully decorated and unique. The gym, pool and spa area is nice but is in need of a deep clean and touch up. But overall it is an excellent way to unwind in the heated pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Great views from the roof terrace too. Lovely food and light bites. Some of the bedrooms have stunning ancient four poster beds. Other rooms are basic and dated so best to telephone when booking to ensure a four poster.

Good location near Lewes High Street shops restaurant. It's an old building with history. Room is cosy but not a lot of anything else.

No WiFi in the rooms nor an option for a paid connection. The only power socket is the one where the kettle and TV is connected. And not a lot of channels available on the TV either. Food is decent. Overall, it's fine for a good night sleep.

Can't comment on price as booked by work. It has a small gym and heated pool but did not use it so unable to comment.

I really enjoyed Sunday lunch at the carvery. The place is slightly dilapidated and the food no better than average, but sometimes it's better to have low expectations and be plesently surprised, then high ones and be left disappointed. We went in with our eyes open so I'm scoring it high 'in context' rather than low in comparison to all restaurants. Food :typical carvery, dry meat + soggy Yorkshire, but the starters were very good. Service was excellent by all staff. Price reasonable for what was received.

I enjoyed my stay here. My room overlooked the country side and I could see lots of hills and cliffs, it was beautiful. The room was quite large and had the things I wanted, it was basic but comfortable. The decor was not in keeping with the building and my room had a very 70s feel including pink bath tub.. great for me as I like pink but I expect if they gave it a make over they could charge much more! I found it to be very clean and I liked the toiletries. Good central location and free car park. Thanks!

Currently staying in the hotel,, very cute rooms looks like a barn loft but in a good way! Is a really hot day which has made the room rather toasty would be my only problem.
Lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you, from giving advice on we're to eat or keeping the bar open a few extra minutes to get a bottle wine
Parking facilities are great for the hotel and even on a Bank Holiday we haven't struggled with parking
Defiantly recommended for a night away near Brighton

We stayed here last weekend for 2 nights. The room was clean and well equipped with a nice big bath and a shower. Lovely sunny terrace with great view of the downs. The staff were always friendly and helpful. This s a great location as it is central, near the station, bus stops, pubs, restaurants and attractions with easy access to the downs and river walks. Another plus was the night porter to serve drinks when we returned late. We would definitely recommend it and stay there again.

Little to no actual service. Bar was usually unattended and after housekeeping had been we actually had fewer towels and rolls of toilet tissue, and they took our unused soap without replacing it. We were later informed they had 'run out' of bath towels. Surprising considering my wife and I accounted for about 25% of the total number of guests at the time. Nice location. High-street noise is a problem but not something that can be helped.

Rooms were a decent size but very outdated and in need of some TLC. Breakfast was hit and miss, croissants and toast were great but the cooked food was not very desirable. Fried eggs in particular looked like they'd been sitting there since the previous day (totally inedible). Overall not the worst place in the world but definitely needs a spring clean.

Stuck in the 70s. Cracked pink bathroom suite, it even smelled like a care home. Very basic and charging 3x what I would expect for a room like this. Others in our party had heating in their rooms that couldn't be turned off even though the day temperature was 28 degrees. Breakfast was OK which brought it up from the one star to a two star review.

We visited the White Hart for Christmas last year and had a lovely time. Couldn't fault the service, the food was fabulous and Graham, the Manager was an absolute angel!. The only thing we will do differently when we return is ask for a room in the main hotel, with a four poster bed, as we were in the annexe. Many thanks

The staff were very helpful and the old parts of the hotel are very pleasant, as was the breakfast in the conservatory. However, our room in the annexxe felt tired, it had several large cobwebs in the bathroom and lots of noise from rooms above and below.

- overpriced for what it has to offer
- dated, extremely worn and smelly interior

Blessed with a lovely wood panelled interior and history but unfortunately has inefficient staff, a musty feeling to it, and I have heard many locals say not the best things about it. If you have the choice, it's better to airbnb.

Rooms were nice and no problems there. Swimming pool was slightly under-maintained but not terrible. Food was nice but service was very slow; the waiters had not been trained well as they were very slow and not understanding.

Location and staff were more than acceptable, hotel could do with some rejuvenation but facilities were more than adequate. Would recommend for a reasonably priced overnight stay but not for a romantic get away weekend.

Had a good stay. However the room was a bit tired and dated which was a shame and had a bad view of the car park. Pool was nice and warm but changing facilities could be modernised. Lovely bar area and staff friendly.

Friendly attentive and helpful staff in a great old building. Food and facilities all good. Could do with some TLC in terms of decor, new carpets and a lick of paint but beyond that we really enjoyed our stay.

Although the staff are trying their best to please, the hotel is severely lacking in any investment. Bar prices seem top heavy too. Shame, this could be a top class hotel if only money was reinvested in it....

Overall good Hotel, only issue is the WiFi. Signal is always poor and tends to disconnect and reconnect frequently. As a uni student at the University of Sussex, this does not assist well with my studies.

The hotel may look posh but it isn't. On my first day I asked to change my sheet because it was dirty, and to clean my room as the floor wasn't cleaned for weeks.\\r
The bathroom was old.

Having attended this hotel as a dinner guest at a function I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were great and the the food very reasonable. The room we were in was incredible a great atmosphere.

Stayed there for ten days. Restaurant very school dinners, rooms bordering on the unliveable. Well past its sell-by date. Luckily there's a brand new Premier Inn down the road!

We were only in there for 10 minutes and a fight broke out between a customer and a male bar staff member.....
The language was foul...will never go in there again

The conference facilities were simple and clean, but the surrounding area badly needs tidying. I can't comment on any other facilities as I didn't use them.

Poppdd in for drinks, but the place seems very tired. Poor range of drinks on tap and we couldn't pay for our drinks at the bar - instead had to go to reception

The twin room had bed bugs in both beds. It's not pleasant to wake up with drops of your blood spattered on the sheets from being eaten overnight.

I hate leaving poor reviews but I recommend people do not stay here. I cannot comment on afternoon tea or the bar but the rooms are not good.

Comfortable and clean with friendly helpful staff. Good central location with some csr parking. Interiors somewhat dated. I would use again

Nice old look inside. Went in for a quick pint. Probably nicer in winter. The outside terrace however is nothing special.
