We've been regulars at the White Hart Tap since moving to St. Albans a dozen years ago. We tend to visit during the day, mostly at the weekend, for food with our two young kids. The food here is excellent. The menu is always evolving. The Sunday Roast is a family favourite and dad (that's me) loves the always interesting mix of guest ales. Vegetarians are well catered for here and, during the day, families welcomed. Sure, the staff all know us by name since we've been visiting for so long, and treat us like friends when we arrive, but we suspect that you'd get the same reception after just a couple of visits. Oh, and the beer garden is sun drenched and spacious - summer afternoons spent here are a real treat. Free wifi and newspapers too. Did we mention we rather like this place?!

A no frills, quality pub, serving a good selection of well kept real ales. Timothy Taylor Landlord is always on, but they have a rotating selection of quality guest real ales too. Although some of the 'guests' are breed on the premises and more than hold their own, some sell out very quickly. A changing menu of quality home made food and knowledgeable and friendly bar staff make this the number 1 pub in an area not short of good pubs. Also has a nice beer garden and occasional beer festivals.
Go for the fish and chips on a Friday.
They also have a fine range of wines at reasonable prices. You can reserve tables. Deservedly, very popular!

Beer's always good and, usually, a fair selection; 4 house (Doombar, Landlord, Side Pocket & Castle Rock Harvest pale), 3 guests (usually one sub 4%, one over 5% and another in between).

They do a decent sandwich too which shouldn't be difficult but seems to be beyond some chefs' capabilities; good quality bread, ditto fillings (and don't try to be too clever!).

Never disappointed, been here several times and will doubtless visit again before the year's out.

A great local pub. I was accidentally here on a quiz night a few months ago, we moved on, but it looked like it was going to be great. A lovely bustling crowd of locals and a cozy place to be on a cold night. Good, quick service and you can sit out front and have a view over, well, over south st albans towards Sopwell. See you there.

A good, local pub. Intimate, with a limited but reasonable range of beers. Limited 'craft' brews. Good sidewalk seating and a nice guarden for larger groups and kids. Food's been good when I've eaten there. One of St. Alban's finest; would be better with wider offer of more exotic beers.

Enjoy many a night in the tap. Normally in the 'boardroom' ;)

Loads of beer and ales to suit.

Beer festival once a year on the bank holiday week in August with music and bbq and loads and loads of ales.. Always good fun :)

Service is excellent, selection of beers and real ales is on point. The staff are very friendly. Garden is huge - theres space out the front and the back. You must try the scotch eggs! The interior is a little bit dated. They have pub cats!

Cosy pub with a fire if it gets cold. Good beer selection like five points pale ale and moor hoppiness, delicious food, friendly service and friendly locals. One of the best pubs I've been to.

Reminds me of walking into someone's front room full of strangers. Massive garden out back is great in the summer. Sunday lunch is good as well but get their quick as it tends to run out.

The only way this pub could be improved would be for it to open an hour later. I enjoy their food and the beer is always well kept. Even the pub cat provides friendly service.

Both this and it's sister pub The White Lion on Sopwell Lane are my two favourites in St Albans...
Unpretentious, comfortable with great beers and good at both.

When other pubs had closed down their kitchen on a Sunday, the White Hart served food until later (and the food was amazing!). Staff is friendly, the place is cozy.

A candidate for best pub in St Albans? Great beer and food, nice and relaxed, nice enclosed beer garden (with grass!)
Everything a good pub should be.

Nice Sunday lunch with fresh vegetables. Busy place pleasant staff, they squeezed me in because I was early. They also do Tex Mex food. Garden too.

The roasts are a hit and miss here to be honest! My last lamb roast was cold and watery! But been here before and the chicken was fairly decent.

Modern pub, not really stand-out but good food with changing specials and reasonably priced drinks. Quiz night on Wednesday is always fun.

Poor quality ale on my visit. Moor Union Hop, maybe it's one of these trending poorly brewed 'naturally cloudy' ales!

Great little pub with a lovely big beer garden. They have nice ale on tap and the lager selection isn't bad either...

A quality local pub that hosts beer festivals on bank holidays and folk festivals in the summer. Brilliant.

Superb range of seven real ales including three dedicated to craft brewey beers some of which are unfined.
