Worst carvery ever. Visited several Toby's before and they're generally good. First off, we was greeted by a large male that asked us what we wanted to drink, we ordered bottomless, so just required a glass. We was told that he would bring glasses over. Five minutes later, no glass. I then decided to ask for my glass, his response was that a female had brought them over. He then went to the bar, two minutes later got our glasses.

There was barely any customers of which i found weird as it was 17:10.

Whilst looking at the poor selection of stale dry food, we heard a loud blast of music as the chef came through the kitchen door to us. Chef covered in tattoos, not the appearance of what i would expect from such establishment. The meat servings were very stingy and was my dry, looked like the meat had sat for a long time. Roasters looked unappealing and most of them appeared under cooked and tasted as such. Veg was all dry, despite stirring all the veg. Mash was just what i could imagine as prison slops. Gravy was very thick and lumpy. Cheese cauliflower was thick and had all settled and tasteless.

Then we went to pay and their epos wouldnt accept our wowcher. For some reason wowcher charged me twice and received two receipts and two different wowcher codes. Ive checked my halifax and was charged twice. The big bloke demanded both codes, no idea if I've lost both codes, i hope not for such poor food and service. Kept on stating that our food hadn't been paid for.

This is the first time ive ever posted such a negative review.

Myself and my sister decided to take our older disabled sister For a carvery at the Toby Inn Castle Bromwich When we arrived there was no one two seat us so waited three or four minutes And then walked into the restaurant to ask if we could be seated The assistant said I'll be with you in one minute so we walked back toward the door She came over took us to our table ask us what we wanted to drink then said we could go up to get the carvery whenever we were ready we were sitting near to where the carvery was and noticed there was no turkey or gammon on there so decided to wait until they bought some new ones out Waited about five minutes but nothing was bought out so we stopped one of the assistants and asked when the turkey and gammon was going to be bought out She told us oh I'm sorry we've run out of turkey and gammon we now only have pork or beef. None of us like beef and the pork was all dried up so told theWhite dress that we just have the drinks and wouldn't bother eatingWhat we thought was going to be a lovely afternoon with three sisters having a meal together turned out to be a disaster don't think we'll be visiting again

Several things spoil this pub.
First the food; the meat I had was beef and turkey. The beef was mostly gristle and was tough. The turkey was scraped off the wing. The portions were some of the meanest I have had. A big contrast from the generous portions of the Manor Farm at Castle Vale or the Swan at Coleshill.
Second the seating; the tables are too close together and when the place is not busy customers are still placed next to each other.
Third the staff are dour particularly the chef.
As a final reason why I give this place only two stars, I do not like tables being cleaned just literally a few feet away while I am eating. I do not like having to put up with spray and all sorts around my food.
I have eaten at this venue a few times and I have to say it is always like this so needless to say I will not be returning any time soon by choice.

I give it one star for the fact that you are felt to be a nuisance by staff if you sit down to eat here, i was constantly hounded by staff almost every 10 mins to ask if i was ok and my meal was satisfactory. This is annoying and is the second time i have had a bad experience when taking family to eat here, i felt embarrassed by the amount of times we were asked if we were ok and if we wanted the bill whilst still eating dessert, the staff just make you feel like you are there to eat and then get out as quick as possible, it has put me off going to the Bradford Arms for carvery, the food portions were also very small and rationed out for the £10 per head i had paid. Very dissatisfied with the service recieved. We were served by a young girl with black hair and facial piercings who wasnt very inept at all.

There were many empty tables which we could see but we're told there were no tables free so we were asked to get ourselves a drink at the bar while we waited. We received our drinks and just as we were about to sit in the bar our table was ready. I have only visited this branch 3 times and each time we have been seated in the most awful place, where people are constantly walking past us, bashing into our chairs etc because they're not as slender as they think they are - and this includes staff! The food was cold and over cooked. The staff were unresponsive and soulless. We paid via the app and they tried to bill us! No apology, no-one even came to see if everything was OK with our food. Awful place.

I went with my husband this evening having been many times before and having a good meal. Unfortunately this was not the case today. I had a meat free carvery and my husband had the pork which he said was very nice but the carrots were more or less raw you couldn't even stick your fork in them and the roast potatoes which are normally one of my favourite things were cremated they were not golden brown they were dark brown. When I went to get some vegetarian gravy it had a thick skin on the top of it. We mentioned it to our server when she came to collect our plates and she said she would inform the chef. To be honest we will not be in a hurry to return to this Toby in the near future. Very disappointing.

Booked a table here for my daughters birthday as we had been a couple of times before and was nice food. Unfortunately tonight was the opposite. I had told them one family member was vegan, i was aware they had vegan options so asked if i needed to pre order before hand and was told no as only takes 5 mins. We all got our carvery and had finished and vegan option still hadn't arrived. 20 mins later what looked like a few shriveled up carrots was found on a work top, the kitchen staff had left it there and not told us. The puddings looked like they had been thrown on a plate. Awful kitchen service. Front of house waitresses were lovely and very understanding so 5 stars for them

Had both the breakfast and the carvery here, both are decent - the fried potato with bacon is amazing! It can get very busy on a Sunday so if you can book before you go, food is pretty good and the staff here are really friendly.

Update: the Toby Carvery has just been updated and done up and looks great! Food is still good and at sensible prices. However one major downside for a family restaurant is lack of baby changing facilities. Came in for breakfast and needed to change the baby, the only place was the floor of the toilet! One of the team took us through to the bar which wasn't open so we could change him away from everyone else. Not ideal

WOW, visited here wednesday night with my two little boys, the waitress who served us was Cat. The food was fantastic lovely and hot meat portions were great just enough to fill our stomachs. Service was amazing. Cat was so friendly and helpful, i have never felt so welcome. I was asked for drinks straight away within a couple of minutes they were on our table. With a fussy child she showed us different options on the menu. My little boy loved the food and they both enjoyed the puddings. Thank you Cat. Would highly recommend this place, great value for money and service with a smile. Will be visiting again soon.

Absolutely horrific! I walked out without paying a penny, I refused to eat there.

Every single plate by the buffet was filthy and covered in food, they gave me a coffee cup that had dried coffee inside which I had to clean with the hot water urn and the forks had dry food all over them.

I wouldn't have let a dog eat off of them plates

It was absolutely disgusting; vile food, vile cutlery and plates, I wish I could leave less than a 1* rating

Appalling, save your money!

Food was cold & dryed up when informed staff was offered free pudding which we refused as it has been refurbished now as it very outdated please to say food was hot & very enjoyable but can explain the staff clearing carvery & all the potatoes vegetables on hot was scraped in waste bin disgusting waste of food could it not be given to charity food kitchens

Bacon hash.... I'm in love. Breakfast in general lovely, fresh piping hot perfect.
There's a que most of the time for toast and coffee but you see why the quality and service you get. Soon as you walk in the door your tended to and seated.
I drive a HGV and there's ample room to park on car park amongst everyone. I work for a popular local waste company and I'm all ways in here an never bothered to review it before but again and again it never fails to impress.

If you like cold hard food then this is the place for you to eat at. It was my friends 40th Ruby Anniversary and the best part of the whole night was the drinks and ice cream. We didn't even get asked if our good was alright just left high and dry. Needless to say shall be putting a complaint in to there head office as server carving up meats hadn't a clue on questions I asked had to go in back to find out all the answers TERRIBLE PLACE FOR THE MONEY THEY CHARGE DISGUSTING

Sunday carvery of poor quality. The beef was inedible, so much so I complained. Turkey was ok, gammon was overly salty. Veg was ok.

For the money it should be so much better.staff were decent, but are all so young, they're screaming for proper guidance and leadership.

So many good, affordable carvery places around, this really should be avoided.

Lovely food, Lovely atmosphere, but only downfall which is meaning of lacking in 1 star in my review, is the relationship with all members of staff in the restaurant. Think the main source of this problem is the manager if thats what she 'thinks' she is. Attitude and bad language gets you nowhere in life. But overall it was a pleasurable visit.

If you like food kept under a bulb four hours then this is the place for you, offers a clear your own seating area most times of the week. Food quality depends on the time of day/week you go, usually bad, dry, limited, underseasoned, pale, cold unfit for human consumption, all together a great place to take the in-laws.

Went here on the 24th December with the Grand kids to have breakfast with Santa, The Santa was brilliant, as were the staff even the waitress that photo bombed us, now onto the food, it was really good, bacon just as i like it,as were the sausages, only criticism was the coffee, would I visit again, most defiantly YES.

We where staying next door at the travelodge so used the toby carvery for tea on the nighttime and breakfast the next door. Food was served until late which was excellent after travelling a long way and the breakfastvwas delicious. Lots of food and really tasty. Also great value for money.

The staff are slow and ignorant. The food is overcooked and the slices of meat are so thin they crumble when you try to eat them. When you try to speak to a staff member about issues they become rude and arrogant.

I ended up going to a pizza hut across the road instead.

This carvery has recently been renovated and now looks amazing. Everything has been updated and is now one of the best examples of a Toby Carvery I've been to.
I highly recommend place and suggest the current rating needs to be updated and reflects pre renovation views.

Got there for a carvery paid as normal then to find out no meat for half an hour with then changed to 1hr 15 minutes so preserves something different (a burger) and still had to pay the extra £1:50 even after waiting half hour for meat nightmare no communication between staff!

Food was decent, and venue is spacious, but we had a large group of ten who were crammed into a side room. Waitress was polite but inattentive, we had to reminder her about orders and wait a long time for food to arrive. Not a bad experience, but distinctly average.

Carvery had a hair in mine and my husband's. They sorted it straight away and reimbursed us for them, I don't think I will eat there again as I woke the next day with a very upset stomach and so did my husband I think it was down to the starters we had :(

Hit and miss here. Had some nice meals, had some awful ones. Had some really friendly staff, had some poor ones. Had ample parking, large bar area, large outdoor seating area and the restaurant is large so you've less chance of having to wait for a table

Excellent value for money.

Normally love coming here but today small portion sizes and it was all cold only got warm from the gravy. They've changed the unlimited drinks too so not much of selection for the kids they loved the tango and that's not there anymore.

Very nice breakfast carvery. Especially the sausages. Good service also.

Came back and the dinner carvery was very nice. Good choice.

Another nice breakfast today. And late and was still offered fresh eggs. No complaints.
