Sat for drinks the in conservatory before our dinner reservation, inside the North Lakes Hotel is lovely. Its warm and inviting with a very open-plan room design the bar area and restaurant flow into one another really compliments the architecture. Something I personally like to see.
Restaurant again was really nice layout, makes you feel more in a wood lodge hotel you would find in the snowy mountains. Great big high ceilings all the way up to the pitched roof, wood supporting beams nicely varnished and on show, stone face open fireplace set inbetween the bar and restaurant really gives that old warm lodge feeling. We were a table of five all had three course's, I personally went for the soup of the day, lamb cutlets and sticky toffee pudding. Food was excellent, soup thick but no lumps. Lamb was tender falling of the bone and the sticky toffee pud was so sticky and toffee'e high ratings for the food. Very good. However this is where I have my only negative remark, the menu I am not joking two out of three dishes are fish. I dont like fish a lot of people I know dont like fish. This is fine but more options for us non fish lovers would be really nice. From this alone I could only go back two - three times before I just wouldnt have anything new to try. Yes i could easily get something ive had before, but I already know thats brilliant. New and exciting is what I like to choose and Noth Lakes just doesnt support that.
For this one eveing I was there it was a pleasure being there, highly recommended.
Hope you have found this review helpful and has sway'd your decision one way or the other.

We have been going to Keswick at least 4 times per year over the last decade at least, and frequently pass this place. We decided at the last minute to make a booking here.

We had a ground floor room which was described as having an adjoining meeting room (due to having two kids in tow). On the phone it didn't sound great, but it was basically a lovely sized room which was very spacious. On arrival there were two plates with Smarties cookies and 'welcome' wrote in chocolate, along with good quality kiddies bags that you typically get in a pub. Along with kids robes.

We had our evening meal in there which was lovely, a little pricey, but it was really very good beautifully cooked food by proper chefs. Breakfast was easily as good also.

The whole place; the staff, the pool, the food, everything was top notch.

If I had to criticise the place I would say my lamb loin special dish was a little undersized in terms of accompiaments. And it may be a little bit noisy for some being close to the motorway. My missus, who is a light sleeper, took earplugs with her and said she was fine.

We will be heading back here again sooner rather than later. We could have easily and happily stayed for another few days, and were all a bit gutted to be only staying for a single night..

We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing weekend break at the North Lakes Hotel & Spa in celebration of my wife's birthday.
The staff all made us feel very welcome and were very attentive, especially the check in staff, who put us at ease after a fraught 3 hour journey to reach them.
Despite its proximity the M6 motorway, the hotel is very quiet. The room was spacious and comfortably furnished.
Breakfast is included in the price of the room, but charged separately for children at £7 per child per day. A great selection of continental and English breakfast options are available and all freshly cooked and plated up for you. There are also options to order porridge, kippers, poached eggs, etc. if you prefer. A great start to a day in the Lakes.
The Spa is open hotel guests and comprises spinning, weights, a pool, steam room, sauna and whirlpool. Additionally, you can purchase beauty treatments and massage for the ultimate in relaxation and enjoyment.
Highly recommended as a place to relax and/or explore the beauty of the North Lakes.

Don't know how they can justify the prices at the restaurant £5 for a toasted tea cake!!
The whirlpool lightly farts at you, so not really powerful, and the rules of no kids under 8 allowed is not enforced at all.
The gym is nicely ventilated and some state of the art equipment. No mats for ab work just a nice hard floor.
Changing room for the massage treatment had hair all over the floor for at least 3 hours so obviously not checked enough.
The main event on which I came for was the massage, which was amazing. The therapist was very professional and gave a great massage. Only downside was the music, Asian songs that you'd hear at a Chinese restaurant, strange choice. But other than fantastic.

The family room was really great - the kids loved the bunk beds, the crayons, colouring packs and chocolate bar each were very welcoming. When we returned to our room later, cookies with their names on were waiting on the table. The beds were comfy and I liked the coffee machine and tea selection. There was even real milk in a mini smeg fridge. We enjoyed the pool although there were missing edging tiles which you had to watch out for. Overall it was nice, but a snide, unnecessary remark from a member of staff soured our experience when dining in the evening. My husband also had to return his main meal as it was badly cooked. It was a shame really, as breakfast was good and I enjoyed the spa facilities.

Our annual dinner dance was held early in the Christmas party season. The room was nicely decked out, the DJ worked hard to get the party started (all helped by the offer of a bottle of wine for the most interactive table!) even while food service was underway, and the black jack and roulette tables kept interest going throughout the evening. The meal was served efficiently, well presented and enjoyed by most.

We stayed in one of the recently refurbished executive rooms which was spacious, comfortable, and had a modern bathroom, well it had a walk-in shower instead of bath. Beware that the shower may prove to be a little bit slippy to some people.

Overall an enjoyable event

Had the pleasure of a Sunday Siesta Spas voucher for two as a gift. Made the very wise decision to go myself twice rather than waste one on a friend. Such welcoming, attentive, helpful staff. Beautiful decor and ambience. Help yourself treats and drinks, well equipped gym, The oil and salt body scrub was bliss but unfortunately 25 minutes is over all too soon. Sumptuous afternoon tea and a take home bag for what you can't manage. Stylish pool and overall fab day. Can't wait for Christmas to see if I get another voucher.

Visited for 2 nights. Lovely room and attentive room service and staff. The restaurant closes at 9.15 so my partner couldn't make it for dinner either days as he was working late. Breakfast is only for 2 hours, but is well worth waking up for. The bar closes already at 11pm! The gym is very cardio machine oriented, and the spa caters for many kids swimming classes so it's not the most tranquil and relaxing place. However the bed and robes in the room were so comfy I didn't really even want to go to the spa anyway.

Ended up being offered a suite at North Lakes due to problem with the room we booked at sister hotel. Never before have I burst into tears on entering a hotel room. Supposed to be luxury suite, had a conference table & 5 chairs, stained carpet, enamel peeling off bath, toilet roll holder broken and what looked like a makeshift wooden bed base. Sorry but the whole room was horrible ended up not staying and having what should have been romantic birthday meal at Macdonalds drive through on 3 hour drive back home.

North Lakes Hotel and Spa was a lovely hotel at a reasonable price located just off the motorway and within a short walk of the centre of Penrith. The staff were great and the breakfast was excellent with a varied selection. Beds were comfy and rooms are top notch. The only thing against the hotel was the fact that I found the rooms to be too warm, making it difficult to sleep (despite the radiators being switched off and the windows being left open), but these toasty temperatures will be preferred by some.

Attending a conference with work. Ample space and facilities despite a large meeting of 70+ people. Great catering service with breakfast rolls, smoothes and mini breakfast bars served on arrival with yea and coffee. Lunch was a little unorganised being asked to take a seat before being called up to the buffet didn't really work as people just joined the queue upon entering. It was however very tasty and there was a good selection of hot and cold dishes. Fairly modern decor and friendly staff :)

Beautiful hotel and spa. It is a deceiving venue. Didn't look much from the outside. Very much like A Travelodge. Inside is beautiful. Stone flagged floors. A very high standard of decor. The staff are wonderfully welcoming and friendly but with a professional reserve. The bar and restaurant are beautiful lit and cosy. The coffee is fantastic, as are the facilities. Great venue for a business meeting or a weekend away. Highly recommended.

Very friendly staff, good food nice room. Only comment was being disabled the room was a long way from reception and the dining room was down two lots of steps. Also nodrop pavement kerb to get a wheelchair from the car park into the hotel! Very friendly and helpful manager on breakfast duty who we chatted to who originates from Corsica who suggested a holiday there. Seriously considering it for next year having toured Tusc

Room we had was lovely although a little small, the staff have been fantastic. Little disappointed with the restaurant though. We hadn't booked, but the restaurant was half empty and still had to wait half an hour for a table to be served mediocre food at an extortionate price. Can't say I'd want to eat there again. Overall a good experience though, and would definitely return to the hotel.

A five-star hotel pretending to be a four.... online booking is not great ... and the shower only rooms are really only for one. Food is great chef and restaurantvservice superb . Can't say Intooknto being told I couldn't have full fat milk..but 2nd day the issue was sorted. Great base for the lakes and Hadrians wall watch out for the holiday weekend price hikes but go there.

Only had one night stay here with the family. Children were made welcome but it wasn't over run with them.

The pool and the spa were very good but slightly crowded.

Staff were excellent throughout our short stay.

The food was really good dinner and breakfast both fantastic. A great place to stay for the lakes or when heading to Scotland

A stunning hotel with fantastic facilities. I was there for a training event. I had passed this place many times and wasn't impressed by the outside so had dismissed it as a place to stay but I misjudged it completely. Inside, this hotel is luxurious and beautifully decorated. The spa looks amazing and the food was fantastic. I will definitely be going back.

Absolutely lovely place! The swimming pool is gorgeous! The staff are so friendly and helpful and add special little touches like having little cookies with our daughters names on for when we arrived and special dressing gowns for them. There is a lovely big open fire downstairs with big comfy sofas it's super cozy! I can't wait to go back!

The location was great and the building looked beautiful and quaint. The staff we're all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast service was delicious. The spa facilities were amazing, had a good relaxing weekend using them. There are many treatments available, can be costly but worth the price. The rooms were clean and comfy,

This hotel is well laid out and has lots of quirks.
The rooms are pretty standard, have fridges with milk and complimentary water.
There are real fires and a decent restaurant serving good quality food and drinks.
Breakfast is served for you and has daily specials which are delicious.

Not a 4 star experience. Been before and enjoyed but not this time. Noisy room and corridors, over crowded leisure centre (towels and clothing all around the pool - nowhere to sit) no room in restaurant and expensive breakfast - £20. Wouldn't mind so much if it was spot on but it wasn't.

Nice facilities. Excellent food and service in restaurant. The room felt small and basic- shower only no bath and no shower caps. When asked at reception was told 'to ask for things needed' I would have rather had things ready in my room than having to Que at reception.... average only

The North Lakes is set in an extremely convenient location. The rooms are comfortable and are currently being bought up to date with The Lakes themed paintings in the bedrooms and Lakes themed wallpaper.
The food menu contains locally sourced items and the food is well presented and tasty.

Great place to visit for a relaxing weekend away. Beautiful setting, excellent facilities and extremely welcoming, friendly staff.

Add in the terrific food and there's not more you could ask for from a relaxing weekend break.

Highly recommended!

Other than one bar bring twice the price of the other, this was a perfect place for a wedding reception. Looks the part, you'd never know you were next to a busy roundabout as all the views a very green and open, very lovely staff. All round very enjoyable.

Location is good for informal meetings, but don't expect to be stunned by the place, and the service is good if a little regimented in thinking. It's perfectly fine for what it is, and I'll happily keep using it, but it's fairly average.

If eating in the cafe after a spa day don't order the ravioli, roughly 8pieces for £14.50! When I commented about this when paying the bill I was told it had been complained about many times! It therefore needs acted upon! Otherwise lovely day had.

I gave the pool four stars. Haven't stayed in the hotel but it looks nice. Can't get myself to pay £15 for pub food so haven't tried their restaurant either. When I ordered a drink it took forever. But the pool area is nearly perfect.
