One of the few remaining down to earth village pubs where you can get inexpensive but good food (even better value on one of the 'special offer' days) but also good beer. You are made to feel very welcome, whether you go for a meal or sit with friends for a leisurely drink.
The 'Yeoman' ran down badly and was closed for a time about three(?) years ago but has been put back on its feet by a change of ownership

Lovely Sunday roast dinner with a great village atmosphere. Best to book table as very busy. We had not booked and were lucky to get a table as majority already reserved. Reasonable price at £9.95 each. Only slight criticism was the beef was overcooked but still tasted good. Will go back again and recommend as staff friendly and waiter attentive.

After being a born and bred freeland person was very disappointed to be accused of lying after i paid upfront with card for beers and then asked for money when i had paid was not given chance to speak just told i was lying! if this is how they treat locals id be very wary of setting a tab up!

Had a family lunch on Friday at this great village pub. Nine of us dined and the menu was excellent. They catered well for our party of whom there was a veggie, but allergy and dairy intolerant person. Range of specials was good. Good was hot, tasty and plentiful. Will be back!

Great landlord, warm welcome guaranteed. Beer always good, draft cider on tap. Good fresh pub food. Themed food nights. DIY barbecue option, great for families & groups.

Nice small local pub with lovely food and big servings. Tables are very close together though and we had to squeeze in! Other than that, lovely place

Just been for Sunday roast. Food was lovely well cooked and generous portions and a price that wouldn't break of a single mum on benefits

Went to one of the many geographically-themed nights. Pub was packed. Great food, amazing atmosphere. Trevor is a real credit to the village!

Wide choice of beers, good pub menu & an interesting range of special events. Since it became a free house improved greatly.

Good beer well kept and Trevor the landlord is a great host who works hard to look after his customers.

Probably the best local pub in the area. Excellent food at unbelievably low prices. A must visit pub.

Proper country pub, especially if you're vertically just below average. Good grub for sure.

The service there was excellent but my food was a bit burnt. Great value for money though.
