Fabulous park for people of any age. Something for everyone. Our party ranged from ages 5 to 70 and we all had a great day. The children's play park is brilliant. On a nice day be sure to pack your little.ones towel and costume for some fun in the water area. They love it ! Plenty of park benches to sit and watch the world go by, people playing bowls, table tennis, pitch and put, kids doing tricks and stunts on the skate park. See the ducks gracefully gliding around on the pond or bobbing out of the way of the boats full of people enjoying the ride around the little lake. People lazing around on the grass having picnics and making their own new family memories. A truly picturesque park that is well worth a visit. Don't forget your purse for a treat from the cafe on the park where the food is amazing. We go regularly as its not too far away and loved by all the family no matter of age. Xx

Lovely park packing so much into a relatively small area. Children's play area with the usual attractions plus a water splash. Small boating lake. Occasional miniature railway. Bandstand. Skateboard park. Tennis courts. Bowling green. Putting green. Well maintained gardens. Short riverside walk. Toilets. Minimarket every Wednesday and a farmers' market usually every third Saturday. Very good cafe with limited inside seating but much more outside. Only negative for this park is the very limited parking. This is the major drawback for Matlock as a whole. Safest bet is probably the car park above the M&S supermarket and adjacent areas.

Subjectively, there has been a decline in standards here. Dog poo was found in an area frequented by both adults and children, and the park had clearly not been tidied recently. The paddling pool in the children's play area had been cordoned off with a sign stating that it was out of order. However the water had been left stagnant and not drained. It was a dirty brown colour and children were playing in it! The boating lake was dirty too and the air was heavy with the smell of the visibly smokey boat engines. The overall impression was of a less than healthy environment... unfortunate!

The park is popular and contains a boating lake, cafe public toilets and tennis courts as well as skate boarding its problem is to reach it you have to navigate a busy road and shops which are served by poor parking which is served by over zealous parking wardens who whilst protecting blue badge holders are not sympathetic to autistic people or those with learning difficulties or older people with diabetes who need to use the toilets
This means that the park is denied to the people who need it most and cannot be called accessible

Excellent play area for children, enclosed, clean, little swings, big swings, 2 slides, a climbing rope, roundabout and paddling pool with water jet's, a duck pond and they sell food to feed them 50p a bag. Lovely café indoor and outdoor seating, tennis court's, skateboard and scooter area and plenty of grass to run on and picnic on. Oh and I nearly forgot 2 table tennis tables obviously need your own bat's and balls (I think you can hire them from somewhere but not % sure about that) but well worth a visit!!

Hall Leys Park is a great place for young and old. A play area for young children near by is a padding pool which I can imagine is great fun in the summer.
A boating lake along with ducks. A scate board area which is near the tennis courts.
A narrow gauge railway which runs in the warmer weather.
The attractive band stand is near the wonderful tea room which is a delight.
It is possible to stroll on the many paths in the park.
The sunken gardens are really pretty.

It's got everything you need for a park. The cafe is lovely and all freshly made food, a play area with paddling pool, boating lake, small train ride for kids, pitch n put, tennis court, skate park and and large area to sit and chill with a picnic. If your lucky, on occasional weekends, you may get to hear a brass band in the band stand. Every Wednesday it holds a market and their are various events throughout the year.

Local park in the centre of Matlock. Has a range of things from benches by traditional formal gardens with bedding plants on display in summer through to a skateboard or biking area. For younger kids there is a play area with plenty of water too. Plus a small boating lake and miniature train. Most importantly it's free for all to enjoy!

Large park in the centre of Matlock. Tennis courts and a skate park are available, as well as a well looked after garden area to walk around. Plenty of open grassed areas to lounge around on, but benches are also available. The river runs parallel to the park, and a path is next to it to walk along. Very popular on a sunny day in Summer.

Our little one was in the splash park daily when we lived near here! It has a nice café & bandstand and plenty of grassy space. Local passers by are reet friendly too. But the boats on the lake stink of diesel when they're running. The mini train that's there in the Summer is cute, and the free Wifi's a nice bonus!

This is a great little park if you are in the area, there is plenty to do for all ages, and there some interesting oddments to keep adults going, such as the information near the bridge about water levels.
Iceland and Costa are nearby, so ice-creams and drinks can be bought even when the onsite cafe is closed.

Great park, kid friendly and has great cafe, toilets and a wonderful play park with hot day paddling pool and changing rooms. Take the kids with swimmers, lovely boating lake and miniature railway too. Highly recommended, easy to find from railway station, close to Matlock high street services and walks/gardens.

A local park, full of history, new multi games area, adds more space for football and basketball. Perfect place for a picnic or get snacks, meals and drinks from the cafe in the park. Boating lake, mini railway, skate park, tennis courts, outside table tennis tables, great kids play area with paddling pool.

Having lived in Matlock for 11 years, many years ago this is one of my most favourite parks with tennis courts, a small train for the kiddies, a boat lake, a band stand, an excellent cafe plus the usual swings etc. Beautifully maintained flower beds and trees. Everything a park should have

Loads of things to do, right in the town centre so everything is accessible. Outdoor pool and park area great for kids! Just a shame other people who went were leaving empty glass bottles on the park! We parked on the cricket field as it was so busy, but £3 all day parking is a bargain!!

Fantastic public park set in the historic town of matlock. Clean , well presented , family friendly with even a parent and child unisex toilet. Plenty to keep the young ones occupied for a few hours and to burn off some energy will revisit with family next time I am in the area.

Lovely park in the centre of Matlock. Children's playarea, bandstand, boating pond, tennis courts, skate park, cafe as well as kept gardens and a walk along the River Derwent. Small outdoor market every Wednesday and various events throughout the year.

Nice place to sit and watch the world pass by or just take in the sun. Plenty of benches, there is a cafe and lots to keep the kids happy.

There are plenty of footpaths all around, why not plan a visit as a stop off point on a walk?

The grand children love the park, there is a miniature train and boats, the toilets in the play area are a bit dire but there are more further down the park, there is also a skate area, bowls and basketball hoops so something for everyone

A nice place in a lovely small town, it has a small playground and boating lake and a small paddling pool and a lovely lanes area to sit and have a picnic or to just relax, close to a lovely chip shop and some great local shops

The toilets are relatively new, but are absolutely disgusting. Faeces all over the seats. The cleaners can't keep up. I'm sure the junkies and daytime cider drinkers have lost the ability to aim their backsides.

Very nice public park in the summer, we went during the snow and there was a mini frozen pond, but it was still a nice little walk, deffo recommend for small families as there is a nice park and nice for a walk
