Tried this place out as we live just up the road. I was a bit reluctant having seen the price of the steaks which they claim to be the best in Oxford. We arrived and were seated, ordered drinks and asked for 5 minutes to see the menu which turned into 15 minutes, admittedly they were busy but we had 2 young children and were seated in a busy area. Our food arrived 50 minutes after we entered the restaurant by which time my young daughter was getting quite restless. The food was hardly worth the wait..... a lettuce wedge with a blue cheese sauce. Basically a chunk of whole lettuce with some crumbs of cheese, accompanied the steaks, overcooked salmon, supposedly roasted vegetables which looked like they'd been boiled for a few minutes and were too hard to cut into and steaks which were ordinary at best and not worth half the money. We won't go back even though it's just up the road. Lesson learned... don't go anywhere that looks too shiny. If you want a decent meal in a pub with a nice atmosphere without paying any more, go to the Bell at Hampton Poyle. This place was better as a Harvester, at least they had a few good beers on tap and the food was cheap.

Well where to start if you like paying £26.95 for a ice cold steak or half a lobster that was microwaved to death like a bit of rubber or maybe your wife's steak that was so rare that it had a pulse....then you will love this place I am a south African by heart and have most probably eaten more steak than half of brittan all together as we do like our steak, if they think the steak they served us today was a 30 day aged steak then they must be getting ripped off. If you would like to know what a 30 day aged steak looks and tastes like then I will pop down to the fellers at meat masters and pick you guys some proper aged steak and let you try it, the worst steak and not great service considering it was quiet. PS.. a steak house serves a steak on a hot cast iron plate not a cold China plate.

For a steak House, you'd think they would know how to a cook a steak? No. My medium rare was medium at best and my wife's medium fillet was well done and nearly burnt. We ordered the burger for our daughter and the dried out meat that was delivered was inedible. They were very apologetic and changed my wife's steak for her but she ate on her own by the time it arrived.
We ordered desert because we thought you couldn't get that wrong. I ordered the home baked cookie and ice cream and got a pathetic excuse for a cookie that was rock solid.

We've been to the miller and carter in Coventry and it was fantastic. Food, service and atmosphere were perfect. Maybe Kidlington should go there and see how it's done.

The atmosphere was very relaxed and cosy, Infact too cosy! Either side were two other couples and it felt uncomfortable as you were unable to talk as you could hear every word from the other couples! The prices were excepetabel for the steak just menu was confusing to exactly what went with the steak with no assistance from the waitress. My partners steak was cooked as requested, however mine should have been medium and was medium rare boardering rare. We were not asked if we required any more drink and also there was no coffee available due to the machine not working. The manager was very friendly and polite, however came away with a negative experience after it was recommended by a friend. Would not return or recommend after my experience.

Our friend recommend is this płace and I can now recommend it as well! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Very friendly and nice stuff, Specially one lady who jokes and smiles all time! You are superb! :)
Food - delicious, full of Flavour and really well grilled/fried. For that quality I think it is Good price.
Very nice menu - You can check Wich part You are ordering :) and How it should be cooked :) Nice share platers. Fresh veggies (but it should be less fatty and oily sauces in it). Anyway, everything delicious ;)
We booked a table for 15:30 and it was almost empty. You can pop up from the street as well. Definetely we will come back!

Made a booking for 21.45. On the website it says they hold booking for 10 minutes after the said time. However when we turned up at 21.52 we were refused a table since the kitchen had closed WHEN THEY SHUT AT 23.00!!!! Unacceptable to shut the kitchen over an hour before closing and refuse a BOOKING! On the website you can book a table until 22.30 guess you’d just have to stick with drinks tho.. I myself am a waitress and know they could not officially close the kitchen by the restaurants standards that early and were trying to short cut closing and leave early - however if so then just don’t accept a booking that late.

Well I'm not one for leaving feedback online but credit where credits due we've just had a wonderful meal at the kidlington Miller & Carter and I must say the food was first class and so was the service I have read reviews about the service and in particular James one of the waiters, I can confirm that the young man in question is a fantastic asset to the company very knowledgeable and using his words he wants to make sure that everyone has a good time.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone but please bear in mind that it will be very busy during peak times.

Absoloutely sublime from start to finish, food was fantastic, staff were lovely, some might say its pricey but it was well worth the money for the food alone, the whole family absoloutely loved it and we talked about just how much we enjoyed it in the car ride home, we would definitely visit again.

Minor criticisms: The resturant looked beautiful but the lights were exposed and too bright, need a lampshade really, and the tables were a bit cramped with the bench cushion being quite slippery. Although its perfectly comfortable, did not detract from the otherwise perfect meal and service.

Delicious from start to finish !
As always give it a few weeks to settle in any new restaurant so they can find their feet ! Dined last night and it was brilliant ! Duck wings to start and Rib eye for main - what they do is steaks and they do them very well indeed !
Of the 4 of us we had several bottles of wine (all faultless) and Steak - all in aggreance that it's some of the best food around ! Best thing that's happened to the harvester it's turned from the worst place to eat into one of the best ! I'll be back !

Lovely restaurant. Great ambiance. Roaring log fire in the bar area. Good menu, which was explained fully on arrival on the steaks available.
Great wine and cocktails also. Steaks were amazing with superb side salads, fries etc.... Deserts were delicious.
Staff all friendly and helpful.
On leaving the restaurant you are encouraged to ring a large bell if you enjoyed your meal, I rang the bell and the kitchen doors opened to cheering chef's who appreciated the fact! Will be eating here again soon.

Visiting friends in Oxford who took us to this restaurant in Kidlington. My wife's vegetables with her main course were cold, told the waitress who said she would bring some more. By the time she did my wife had to finish the rest of her meal or it would be cold. She was offered a free desert which we declined so they knocked £10 off the bill. Told the duty manager on the way out that it was disgusting and he did not want to know. Do not bother with this place with the price they charge, not good customer service.

ate a meal here to celebrate a birthday, waiter ACCIDENTALLY spills a large drink over my daughter in law, embarresed and apologetic to her, offered towels and cloths to mop her down, this was the start of the evening causing her to be wet and sticky throughout.ending asking for the bill and request for manager who did offer 20% off the bill, this was ok, but at the time a little more promptness could have been given and moved to another table.food was ok but not much more than that.

We found all the staff to be welcoming and professional and the atmosphere in the whole restaurant was friendly and inclusive. In particular our waitress helped a blind man sit down at the next table with his guide dog and she was kind and helpful to him which clearly made his evening and made everyone else happy too. The food was very good indeed and all elements tasted as if they had been properly prepared and cooked with imagination and flair. A delightful restaurant.

When we heard that The Harvester in Kidlington was changing to a good quality steak restaurant we were interested....a 50 minute wait for a poor quality steak well done on the outside and medium in the middle was somewhat disappointing...iceberg lettuce with a poor quality sauce...a bernaise which was out of a bottle...as it turns out the restaurant is just a makeover by the same company that owns Harvester pubs....a huge disappointment and we won't be back...

Steaks are the star. Pretty much everything else except for the onion loaf which is good is awful. Every other side dish and sauce is out of a packet. Been here twice now. Staff are not friendly and never took anything off our table letting it pile up. Worst thing was rotten ham in bacon salad which was dismissed by waitress. Manager oblivious. In two trips I have discovered that the pricier steaks are tastier, which is logical, but not universal in the real world.

When my dad told me to put my nice shirt on, I thought 'here we go'...
I couldn't have been more happy to find out that we were going to the miller and carter!
Last time I had beef that nice was on an ambitious night out in Belgium!
The juices flowed in ways I could've only dreamed as a teenage boy, and the dripping butter filled my orophis with flavours that only a stranger could!

10/10 amazing meat and veg

I was 2 weeks in Oxford some Years ago. At this time this was the Harvester Pub. Last year i traveled for about 1 week trough the country, and i also stopped in Oxford. First, i was surprised, that the Harvester Pub no longer exist. But after the Lunch in the new Steak House i could say, it's top! Very delicious and good price. I'll definitely come back, if i'm next time around Oxford.

First visit to a Miller steakhouse. Can't say as I will be rushing back to one. The staff were incredibly polite and did well considering how packed it was and how hot it was. It was a hot day and in the absence of any air con the whole dining experience was not pleasant. The food, whilst completely edible was not worthy of the asking price. Standard fare for slightly above average prices.

First time (28th Feb 2017 at 18:15) here and was impressed with how tasty and well presented the food was and most of all the waitress who served us was excellent, everything about her is what you would want in somebody serving you and she was very busy but still kept herself 100%. It's like a breath of fresh air nowadays. Will definitely be back and Thankyou.

As someone has said “over priced” also just like to add found it to be upmarket pub grub, a steakhouse where you have to ask for steak knives? and burger with no seasoning? couldn't eat it after waiting an hour for it. Paid £60.00 for fish and chips x2 chicken and a burger, could have gone to a chip shop for half the price

Excellently decorated, fairly expensive but worth it. Starters are good wine is good, steak is exceptional best I've had in a long time and cooked how you order which is rare. Ribs are good staff; waiters, greeting staff and bar staff are all great. Massive improvement on the harvester that was here 1000x better.

Shared a delightful tenth anniversary meal here recently. Hadn't booked, but despite being busy they managed to squeeze us in. Enjoyed the third-best steak I've ever tasted, plus delightful deserts and a range of exciting cocktails all at a price point that's very reasonable for what you get.

Just had a meal at miller and carter. We waited a little while as we hadn't booked. James came over and was excellent. Really friendly and informative. Helped me through my menu choice. The steak was really nice and was really happy with the service. Well done James for looking after us. :-)

Went for lunch on a Saturday and the food and service was first class. Because of this we came back on the Monday. Wasn't as good, my sea bass was crispy and my friends steak was cold. Credit to the team though, they dealt with it well and adjusted the bill. Would go back

Two visits here and both have been excellent! All 5 of us enjoyed every bit of our food, the hostess was very helpful with chosing our wine and food options. Lovely spacious tables and a really nice few hours spent. Definitely returning soon, highly recommend the bistro rump!!

Delicious steak and wines. We attended their VIP evening and we're not disappointed with the high quality and expertise of the staff and the hosts. Just be aware of gluten intolerance. It's worth educating your staff as it's becoming more common.

Nice place to have a drink but over £5 for a pint of bitter shandy is a rip off.
Only one beer to choose from and a few larger/cider's so limited.
Would not go back in a hurry as other pubs in the area are just as nice and cheeper
