Went here for a party couple of weeks ago and although the food itself was lovely the service was not. I hadnt even finished my starter and they started clearing things off the table and clearing other peoples starters away, when you are trying to eat i find that incredibly rude. When we asked for drinks we liturally got snapped at and got told they were busy and to wait. We obviously had really put them out just being there!! I appreciate they were busy but i feel they were hurrying us along it made a awful atmosphere and ruined it for all the party. I work in this industry and understand how hard it can be but heres a couple of tips for you, employ more staff so one person isnt running around like a headless chicken trying to do the work of 5 people also when you are stressed and rude please bare in mind the amount of money a large group of people are spending on food and drinks in your establishment. If you dont want the buisness just say

The Marlborough Tavern has become an extremely popular gastro pub, and for good reason. The food there is very high quality, better than most of the fancy (and pricier) restaurants. Only shame is you can't go for a drink any more as all the tables are always reserved so I'd say it's fully a restaurant and not really a pub any more. However, if you have booked a table then it's a really nice place to eat. In the summer you can still rock up and eat/drink in the (v nice) beer garden. Mixed bag as a veggie, I've had some of the best veggie food I've ever had from their specials menu on some visits, other times they don't try at all -- the chef is really good so might be worth asking them to adapt something.

Dropped in here because we had read that dogs are welcome so us two and three dogs are starting our journey up to Holyhead replete. From the moment we stepped inside, we were warmly welcomed and looked after so well by very charming and helpful staff. The ambience is warm and cosy and the food is superb. Excellent menu and fabulously executed. The trio of pork is a showstopper and worthy of any great restaurant and the burger was beautifully seasoned and presented. Top marks and highly recommend. Harvey Pippy and Connie delighted in the titbits they blatantly begged from the table. Many thanks for looking after us so well.

I've eaten in the Marlborough a 3 or 4 times over the last few years and always found the food, service and general ambiance very good.

Price wise, it's little more than some places, but then, if you want a Harvester style meal, go there instead. The Marlborough offers a lot more than that. Highly recommended, and next time I'm in Bath I'll be going there again.

Nice place, but very small portions for the amount they charge. Ordered the £10 scallops & prawns starter...came with 2 scallops, 1 prawn, and a grilled onion. We were left wanting.

Their menu changes as the market changes, so that's nice, but our plates were still pretty small for £14.5 (ravioli) and £22 (lamb).

This is a popular local for the majority of people living on the north side of Victoria Park. With a large outdoor space, the Marlborough is great for soaking up the sun with a cider in the summer. It is pricey compared to others but their interiors are fresh, modern and clean - none of that old-man-pub stuff going on here!

Slightly above your basic Pub, staff were quite friendly but distracted. Food was very average. Triple cooked chips not that crispy, burger was similar to a wimpy restaurant and the Celeriac soup was very poor. Maybe I had too high expectations after reading the reviews. Manager is also young and inexperienced.

The food is excellent - fine dining with real portion sizes. Unpretentious and spacious - a nice atmosphere. Staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the food. We thought the prices appropriate - and they don't overcharge for drinks as many restaurants do. We had a really nice experience there.

We had dinner last night at the Marlborough (4 of us) and couldn't have made a better choice. The interior is warm and welcoming, as was the excellent service provided by Milla. A good selection of reasonably priced wines and delicious food. We'll definitely be returning

Food was really great but took an hour to come after waiting half an hour to order. Found it difficult to get the staff's attention meaning i had to go up to the bar a lot, which is tricky as i'm disabled. Very lovely food but for the price the service wasn't great.

The food at this place is so slow it pulls down all of its other aspects. The actual food tastes good but it takes so long to come, it is so frustrating. Roasts are good but menu doesn't have much choice apart from roasts. Expect 40 minutes for food and similar for dessert.

We enjoyed an early dinner and were more than satisfied by the friendly and professional service as well as the comfortable atmosphere. This place isn't stuffy, but they take pride in their service. I highly recommend the Marlborough Tavern for a casual night out.

Contemporary venue with historical charm. Delicious food. Kind staff. We went close to closing time, but it looked like they do a variety of social events and promotions that make use of their beautiful indoor and outdoor space. I definitely recommend this place.

Expensive...paper napkins...food served on floor boards and roof slates..old cutkery similar to canteen what...what the f..ks wrong with porcelain!!..the only reason any restaurant needs this subdefuge is to cloud good cooking.. Gimmicks!

It might be just me but I do feel that most places that call themselves gastropubs are pretentious and overpriced. The atmosphere is a bit stale and the food a bit overpriced. They have a garden and great stuff. Mixed feelings.

Lovely building and gardens. Good selection of drinks, and gorgeous food. Would of been 5 stars, but lady behind bar was blunt, slightly rude, and as miserable as hell. One off, as the rest of the team was wonderful.

Don't bother if you're vegetarian. One option, half the size of all the other meals, tasting of nothing, costing a lot. Worse than an after thought. Such a shame; nice staff and atmosphere.

A gem - perfectly executed pub classics sit alongside a menu that clearly has been put together with a lot of thought. Amazing food, wonderful friendly staff and settings. Would recommend to anyone.

We had a table of 11 on a busy pre Christmas Thursday evening and everything was great. Staff were attentive but not fussy and the food was delicious. Christmas vibes and decent wine. Thanks!

Traditional English pub fayre with a great restaurant menu on top. Attentive service, and a paved courtyard for outdoor drinking. Could do with a few more craft beers.

On the Casque-Mark Ale Trail, but the staff don't seem to know much about it. The beer is good and the staff friendly enough though - they just seem a bit obtuse.

Gastropub specializing in locally produced food and ales. Great spot for lunch as their food seems amazing. Friendly staff eager to talk with their customers.

Graduations taking place on the night we visited so it was very busy and a bit slow but the staff were very nice, food was delicious and we had a great time.

Came here Sunday with a friend and had a lovely little pint in the back sun trap garden watching to balloons go up from Vicky Park
Friendly staff!

Great food and large portions. Fish and chips is huge and fat fries with fish are tripled fried and absolutely delicious. Every dish was excellent

Great atmosphere. New menu- average, no wow factor, portions feel 'weighed & measured' . But the Sunday lunch I gather is still great!

Great pub. Food was good without being amazing (triple cooked chips were not crispy). Service was pleasant also without being outstanding.

Cozy tavern with traditional English food and beers. Full bar and Sunday roasts for Sunday dinner! The staff is really friendly and quick.
