Had a bad experience here before The Farmers arms was run by Stonehouse and after, the first time we found a hard object in the mash would describe feeling like a bone and when told the manager she said it was a bit of the mash which of course wasn't the case because I couldn't even bite into it and was hard when pressed on table, we returned when changed to Stonehouse and ordered the vegetarian carvary so I went to self serve and asked if there was meat in the stuffing or any flavouring of meat in onion gravy to have him laugh at me in ignorance and replied I don't know I don't think so, which for a pescatarian isn't an answer so after seeing if there was any vegetarian gravy to be told no, the folks for the vegetables was so hot if a child was to touch 100% would get burnt as I needed to cover folks with napkin to stop myself from getting a nasty burn, we won't be returning and strongly advice anyone receiving a roast dinner to grab utensils for veg and mash with a napkin as you will be burnt as my partner did. The service is horrendous and rude. Think twice before deciding to go here.

Very difficult to find anything positive about our experience here today, so i'll just tell you what there was...

1). Just 1 lady serving at the bar, so 4 of us in the queue very soon turned into 8-10. The lady serving then disappeared for at least 10 mins to god knows where (She was doing as best she could but could not cope), leaving no-one serving and no-one knowing what was going on. One couple joined the queue for 10 mins, cursed something i can't write and then walked out shaking their heads...
2). Once we'd finally had our order taken, my wife had to walk out into the kitchen to ask for someone to come through and serve us at the carvery area...
3). Both food serving areas were over-run ie. poatoes into veg dishes and vis-versa, gravy spillages over table and into the other food dishes. Gravy & food had also fallen onto floor & under the serving table.

We've eaten here a number of times, but after today, i'm afraid we won't visit again - Really hope that you can sort this out for the sake of your business.

Visited December 1st, having been a customer for many years. First time I've been disappointed.

3 persons waiting at carvery bar - no serving staff. 2 poked heads round kitchen door, but not enough interest to actually serve. Too busy chatting out of sight but not out of earshot. Not a good start.

Then the food. Huge piece of beef completely dried where it had been carved previously. The cauliflower looked nice but was impossible to cut as it was so undercooked. The potatoes, once the biggest temptation, were barely cooked, floury and anaemic looking. Don't think they had been roasted. It was a first though - I've never left food on my plate before.

Please return to your usual high standards. It was sad to see so few cars in the carpark and the venue so empty.

Came here this evening with my fiancée for dinner, thought we’d come here as we are from Swansea and are up here visiting family. My carvery was ok, but fresh food needed to be put out and the carvery deck needed some TLC, but my partners pizza was amazing and a lot of effort had gone into making it. We were not impressed with the man serving and collecting our plates tonight, he did not speak to us once or make eye contact with us or even smile, my partner tried 3 attempts to speak to him whilst he was serving us and chose to ignore us and not say one word. How rude.. My partner is employed within a management grade within Mitchell and Butlers, and was absolutely appalled by his attitude to us and his lack of care and communication. The other staff were lovely no complaints there.

Services was appalling, one person serving, with loads waiting, while other member of staff was stood there, when asked why he was not helping or getting more staff to help he became some what annoyed, saying he was the manager and had his thumb in ice as he had hurt it.
We where asked to leave for complaining about service or lack of it!.
The so called manager was rude, and the poor girl who was serving on her own, was trying her best, but needed assistance, some of the the people waiting to be served had been waiting 20 mins to be served.
As for food its OK but the service was appalling, and the manager was rude.
We where told on leaving we are no longer welcome. We used to go regular.

I brought two friends to you for a carvery last night and quite honestly was embarrassed!! I go to the carvery regularly as I am a neighbour and always thoroughly enjoy it there. Last night was different!! Two of us chose the Saver meals and the other two the Standard. The Standard were fine but the Saver!! Crikey talk about small portions!! The one slice of turkey must have measured 3' x 2'! I thought it must be a one off, but my friend received the same!! The quality was delicious and the veg as always were plentiful and nicely cooked. The service was friendly as always. I will definitely be back but really?????

This place is very easy to get to from the main road which runs between Liverpool and Preston it's about 5 minutes off the main road and the thrust of their income is based largely on a large footfall of customers who frequent the place for a very reasonably priced meat Carvery which comes with an assortment of gravies and sauces and as much vegetables as you would like in terms of value for money I think you would be pushed to beat it and if you was somebody working in the area and you wanted a nice lunch relatively quickly this is the place to come we've been there about 15 x I've never been disappointed

First time for a carvery breakfast.
We got dirty plates which were disgusting.
When we went for the food their was chips, chips in a breakfast and no mushrooms.
We paid extra cost for the mushrooms which we wasn't told about when ordering. So by the time the mushrooms came we had eaten our breakfast. The mushrooms tasted dry and bland no taste at all waste of time. We did get a refund on them tho.
Dust everywhere and filthy under the counters. Service needs attention no smile on any staff looks like a scene from Shawn of the dead

Went to the farmers arms after not having been for awhile.Found a table which was dirty no cutlery and plates and glasses on table a waitress removed the plates didn't wipe the tablel I had to look round other tables for cutlery ordered 2 pizza's and a burger waited 40 mins went and asked how long and the chef said he would put them in oven in a minute , travelled from Southport won't bother going back again!.Not enough staff to keep dining room clean or serve people at the bar .

Great venue. Carvery was amazing; quality and quantity were great for the price. I wish they would advertise more clearly exactly what is included in each of the categories since there are three (small/standard/large). Option of pizza too though.

Bar staff were friendly, quick and efficient in serving drinks. Lots of seating in alcoved areas but none designated as being childfree for those who would prefer not to deal with other peoples children. Large car park at the rear.

Well. Complete poop. Prebooked a table online. Not ready when we turned up. All stood around waiting. 1 member of staff tried her best to sort us out, on her own. Manager behind the bar not helping, not interested. Totally waste of time. Carvery food as you would expect. If you order off the menu, mega disorganised! Table booked for 5pm, some food arrived at 6.45pm, 2nd time around as the first was wrong! No apology, no nothing. Good luck anyone who goes here.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and at great prices. Have eaten here numerous times, (breakfast, snacks and evening meals). We have never had a bad meal here. Since it has been renovated it has a wider choice of menu. It can be extremely busy, at which times unless you have the carvery can mean a lengthy wait for space and for food. The food is all reasonably priced but the carvery and breakfast is brilliant value.

Not what it used to be, it was always busy before it changed hands. The barman was very unwelcoming. We came at 1pm Friday lunchtime and it was very quiet, we soon discovered why. The food looked as though it had been standing for hours, the meat had dried out and the veg was just mush and tasteless. The carver gave me the dried up meat despite me telling him about it. Very expensive and truly not worth it.

Visit regular with the young man I support. Todays visit was fabulous. Young man behind the bar Jack H was friendly & helpful. Offered to help us carry our meals back. Lovely young. Chef carving the meats was equally as attentive & friendly. It is wonderful when staff interact with our young man. Thank you for making our visit enjoyable as well as filling our bellies

Been to a lot of pubs and resturants over the years this one is terrible if i could give it a minus rating i would used to be a good sizzler pub now its a stonehouse and its useless food slow. Staff terrible. Food overpriced. Food el cheapo supermarket stuff better. 2 slices of garlic bread £4. Had a voucher which caused trouble paying. Was a total disaster meal for 6. Avoid

Fresh carvery every day for under £5. Usually choice 3 meats or half a chicken with 3veg and two types of potatoes plus gravy and trimmings. Gluten and dairy free catered for just ask whilst ordering. Other meals available too. Service is great. Busy but fairly clean. Just need a smokers den (out the back) so customers don't have to walk through the fog on the way in.

Well Farmers Arms what a pleasant surprise to find such a wonderful friendly pub playing live music. The live band 'Whistle Test' were fantastic. The staff of the Farmers Arms were very happy and friendly could not fault the courtesy of any member of staff. Well done Farmers Arms. Wishing you a great future and many more nights of great entertainment.

Visited a few weeks ago had breakfast but left dissatisfied as all the eggs had been left out for ages and where rock hard, some staff loitered around the kitchen/breakfast area didn't seem to care, yes in hindsight I should of mentioned it but was hungry, after the price I paid for 2 plus COLD coffee don't think I will be visiting here again in a rush.

This place has been revamped, fast service, the meat on the carvery was tender and not dry. The pizza area is a cracking idea, the only negative was the salad bar area needed refreshing, hardly anything there, the things that were there I couldn't give to my child this is the only negative overall very good experience.

Farmers Arms have gone down in my estimation they have withdrawn the half chicken which is a meal I really enjoy and also they no longer have ginger ale they have replaced it with ginger beer and a can of this is £2.40, which I think is diabolical because the beer is a foul taste. May seriously think about going elsewhere.

The first time I had visited the Farmers Arms at Whitestake for several years and in that time it has changed hands. The meat as usual was tender and tasty but the vegetables took a lot to be desired. They were tasteless, lacking in variety and very disappointing. An unsatisfactory meal and I won't be going back.

From the carvery, food under cooked and cold, only two meats on offer beef would be a hour. no one came across to ask if everything was ok, left most of the meal. told member of staff when they came to collect plates, she said she would tell the chef, but that was the end of that. very disappointed.

The maxim of 'if you pay cheap prices, you get cheap food' seems to apply here although it appears very popular with parent's with their children. Our roast beef from the carvery was so tough we could not cut it with the provided cutlery. The new pizza bar seemed to be doing well.

Went for the first time earlier this year. Food is excellent. Staff very helpful. Love the cosy feel of the place. Would recommend anyone to try it I don't think you will be disappointed. Been again today and will be there again next week sunday 14th to enjoy the Christmas market

For breakfast I would rate 2 stars but for dinner or parties the service and food is the best value for money and the staff are always helpful and polite.

We now go specially for the dinner's when meeting people as the atmosphere and whole experience is great value.

Recent renovation & much improved as a result. Hard-working staff. However 1. Menu is lacking in vegetarian dish options & 2. extremely small portions of meat served in the carvery despite the recent price increase. Sadly, these two reasons prevent me from returning.

slow service
Waited ages for our starters, then even longer for our mains, food was cold when finally ready
However lads at the pizza station where very appologetic which was nice, but considering we paid quite abit of money to wait for hours we where not impressed

love this place always have, just don't converse with the weird old guy with glasses and a walking stick who sporadically uses this place for breakfast, he though does not represent this pub or the quality of this pub and the staff, one in a million, ABSOLUTE GEM!

Not for me, lots better places I've been to for good food, drinks with a warmer, welcoming staff. Carvery to me is not good value for money, seen more meat on a corpse.....that's just my opinion though so try it for yourself.
