The food was delicious, loved the cocktails and the atmosphere and restaurant itself is great, however the service we received was dreadful. Ordered drinks first as we were waiting for a couple of others to arrive. Once they had we waited a while and had to ask to order food. Starters came a little while after, nothing too bad, it was really yummy! We then were waiting for at least an hour, being ignored by staff and getting really hungry. When I asked the manager she said the food would be 5 minutes, no apology for the wait. 5 minutes and more past and still no food! When I asked again the manager barked that it was on its way. Then a really lovely gentleman came and offered us a free round of drinks. Once our food came, 3 of us had finished and they started taking our plates away despite 1 person STILL EATING. They need to look a how they are serving their customers because unfortunately as much as I loved the food I won't be going back. It's put me off eating out for a long time!

Came here for a nice Thai meal with my parents on my 16th birthday...
First we were awkwardly greeted by a painfully unenthusiastic member of staff.
This wasn't too bad and didn't really affect my meal though, which was quite tasty, however overpriced for what it was worth.
But the absolutely best part was being given a kids colouring book by said member of staff and a box of crayons... seriously?? I'm pretty sure it's been a good 10 years since I used one of those. Okay, I don't look 16, I look about 14. Big 12 year old mininum. But still? It was rather embarassing. And i'd rather not go back. :))

The food was good, some dishes were actually very good. However the service was very slow and mostly poor. We were greeted by a staff member who wasn't very inviting, she acted as if our arrival was a problem despite booking and the restaurant being around only 20% full (I later saw she was far more interested in her facebook conversations). It took around 20 minutes to take a drinks order. It then took 2 hours to receive our main meal (after a very late starter and forgetting one of our starter orders). Hopefully this is just teething issues and the service will improve as the decor and food was rather nice.

I went to Thaikhun during a visit to Southampton. After struggling to find somewhere to eat, I was very pleasantly surprised with this restaurant.

The decor is meant to remind you of Thai Street food. The staff are lovely, attentive and more than willing to talk through and make recommendations from the menu.

There is a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. The unlimited rice with some of the dishes is very useful. The food itself is delicious. The currys taste authentic.

I would not hesitate to come back here in future.

This restuarant opened two weeks ago. All I can say is we felt we were in Thailand. The ambiance and the place resembles the street restaurants of Thailand. We ordered Spring rolls, Shrimp Padthai, Pork Belly, Green tea Matcha Frappe(?) and Large Coke all for £37. The food is lovely we got so excited that we finished the food in less than 30 mins. It is also located in the newlybopened mall beside West Quay named 'Watermark'. I will go back and invite some friends here.

Delicious, fresh food; a unique and varied cocktail menu; great personal service and prompt cooking. Our friend group popped in on a whim and we couldn't be happier with our decision. Definitely would visit again!

Only caveat is that, according to the manager, the vegetarian friendliness of the menu can vary because the Thailand suppliers aren't uniform in what they supply. So it may be worth just checking if something is meat/fish free before you order.

Booked a table for GF's surprise birthday. They were very accommodating and communicated well. Even asked if we would like to be outside or inside on the day. The food was great, very spicy some dishes so be warned! Cocktail menu went down well and they stored the birthday cake and even brought it out with the staff getting together to sing a birthday theme tune! Which was obviously perfect to embarrass the birthday girl to no end! Great place!

I really liked the way it's decorated and there was an extensive choice on the menu but I was served chicken instead of the Tofu I ordered which is not good being vegetarian. The dish was changed quickly enough but my husband and I basically had to eat our meals separately and I didn't get an apology. The food did taste nice when it came but I was left with a bad feeling hence the one star. We won't be returning.

We really enjoyed our visit here. The decor is fun and a little bit different, the staff are friendly and attentive, the food is wonderful. We both love Thai food and had some of our favourites here and they did not let us down. We could have ordered slightly less, I would say a main course, which comes with rice and a noodle dish would be perfect for 2. We would definitely visit again if only we didn't live in Portugal!

Amazing food, lovely drinks and those melt in your mouth desserts! What's not to love about Thaikun. Their authentic thai curries will take you instantly on a ride to thailand. My personal favourite is thai red curry. Try it with their special coconut mojito and end it with their warm chocolate cake with coconut ice cream. Good ambience and friendly staff make your experience all the more enjoyable.

Fantastic atmosphere and decor, really felt like you were sat in a courtyard market with mismatched chairs and tables and old TVs and radios on sale. Food was pretty good, service was a little slow and not particularly attentive but I'd put this down to them being newly opened and still training the staff. 40% off for booking online in January during the week made it very affordable and excellent value.

Considering the choice in Watermark you have to have something special about you and this place delivers in spades. Chilled atmosphere, friendly and extremely helpful staff, exceptional food, great flavours, reasonably priced dishes and drinks, good local beer, and comfortable surroundings. Does tend to get very busy during peak times so booking is advisable. Highly recommended.

Service was a little slow and we went in because we live Thai food and because there was a lunch offer promoted outside- but once inside we were told that it was only available weekdays.
However, we ordered cocktails and food and it was amazing. Flavours were incredible. Service was very slow, hopefully will improve once they find their feet. Definitely worth a visit.

First things first. IT HALAL! GREAT! Loved this place I absolutely love Thai food. My baby had his own tray of noodles and veggies with some peanut free sauce and also got a little milk lolly got dessert. Atmosphere is lovely and you are greeted by a lovely host at the door. BUT the prices are sky high and the portions are tiny. So if u r up for a tasty small bite then go

Good atmosphere and friendly staff.
However, only 2 beers available and one of them was Heineken.
No 'pale ale' as was advertised on the menu.
Good tasty food but we will not revisit because of the poor choice of drinks.
Oh, and the Mohito cocktail was extremely bad value. £7.50 for a glass of crushed ice with hardly any alcohol. Rubbish.

My girlfriend and I stumbled across this place on a Friday night. We were lucky to get a table as they were very busy and booked up. The atmosphere was great and service was fast. They explained the menu which was handy. The food was amazing, we loved it. Full of flavour and lovely kick to the spicy food. Definitely recommend this place, will be coming back again.

Came here with friends and the decor, the atmosphere was so lovely! We were greeted by a lovely waitress who was very attentive and optimistic with us out throughout our meal. The portions may look small but once you've actually finished they fill you up. I recommend the massan curry and i would !00% recommend this place for Thai food :D

Had a lovely meal- delicious food but very salty. I had the spicy seafood noodles which were delicious (asked for them to be not too hot!)
My stater was disappointing- hence the 3 stars. £9.50 for 5 tempura prawns, which looks deceptively large as they put 2 onion rings on the side that look the same as the prawns!

Cheap nasty chicken for my satay starters @ £11.5, Papaya salad was ok but @ £8.50 well over priced. The only thing that stopped me from complaining was the Mango and sticky rice @ £5 which was nice and I do like the decor. But we won't be returning for anything other than desert . V disappointing

Lovely waiter who wanted to do as much as possible to make sure we were okay. Unfortunately the massaman curry didn't taste great so we did complain but they were quick to apologise and offered to make up for it. Asked to have leftovers boxed up but they cleared it away which was a bit annoying.

I went to this place two times and this is my third, I love this kind of food, sometimes kitchen is slow but in this occasion was fine. Pinto is more than enough for two, good price, tasteful food, good attention from the waitress, I recommend this place to have a Thai meal.

Thai cuisine restaurant that is located in the New expansion of the west Quay mall. The curries offered are really good and you can get refills if rice as well. Must Try are the Thai iced tea and the papaya salad as well. The restaurant has outdoor sitting area for hot days.

I've never been this happy with food in a long long time. If you miss Asia, this is the place to go for some authentic food! Not only is the service Thai, but so is the drink and food served here! 10/10 is my favourite restaurant in Southampton yet

Decor was fantastic and authentic, staff were friendly.

Service was slow and when the food came it was highly disappointing, the noodles were really overcooked, too.

Plenty of better Thai in the area for a more reasonable peice

Disappointed. Met at the door by a member of staff, very friendly, sat at a nice table and given menus. Then forgotten...waited 15 minutes and not even asked whether we would like a drink. Got up and left. Went to Coriander and had a great meal.

Amazing food and decor. Very poor and slow service. They were not rude to us at all, but it took ages to order and to get food (20 min to order) (30 to get the starters) (40 to get the mains once the table had been cleared)

3 by Carmen sole garcia Review source

Tasty food but small portions for the price along with poor table service as we where pestered to order upon sitting down then made to wait nearly 30mins for our bill whilst sat with dirty plates, won’t be visiting again.

Great food and atmosphere. We went with friends and although our table wasn't ready at the time at booked it so we had to wait at the bar having a drink while it was prepared, about 15 minutes late.

4 by Roger Donald Review source

Poor customer service. Half hour wait to order drinks. Hour wait on food and one meal never arrived. It was made clear we only had the table for two hours but needed a lot longer with the slow service.

The food here is incredible. Compared to most restaurants in the area this one defiantly needs to be more recognised. Never fails in the quality or taste of a single dish! A must try for any food lover!
