Two night time visits in a fortnight and fairly consistent results each time.
Firstly, the setting is a major drawcard, lovely old mill with wheel turning on the edge of a riverbank, what more twee do you want. On the weekends it must go off during the day.
On both dinner visits staff were obliging and guest focused and helpful with pre dinner drink selections. Don't quote me (Hamish first time, Rachel second time).
Food: Fish and chips were consistent both times but not a standout, Lobster and crab fishcakes overcooked first time but not end of world winge, and good on the return. The King-ish prawns and chorizo pasta was tasty, but as always with any chorizo dish, leaves residual oil. Spit roasted chicken was moist and flavoursome but plate up was a bit lacking. The Chicken and Leek pie was spot on as per menu and full of flavour and simply presented. The rocket and parmy salad was just that, in a bowl! I'd of thought a dressing on the greens and maybe some shavings or the like. Anyway, i still breath.
The menu reads well with the pics on the website, it look like they were shot at Casa del Mar, but living up to that is always hard.
Overall the experience was very pleasant both times and a cracker of a venue with some great staff. Hard to go wrong really, or is it?

Been previously & enjoyed, visited for 1st time in past few years for Sunday lunch & was truly awful.
There was no love at all, right from the start. Was guided to table in dark part of restaurant when plenty of tables with better lighting available, asked if we could have one of those which was fine. Was never informed when getting the menu the pork had sold out.
Never received our drinks before the food arrived which I can say was very bland. No seasoning at all, under cooked parsnips, boiled white cabbage (who served white cabbage in a restaurant) standard carrots, roast potatoes like leather........
The only reason i'm giving 1 star is the manager actually listened to my feedback & never charged me at all, not even for the late drinks! To top it off this was a treat for my wives birthday.

An excellent experience all round.

We were just travelling through on our way up north and fancied a dinner that was a bit classier than a service station fast food type of thing. Checked out family friendly pubs in the area and found here, so didn’t know what to expect.

We eaten from high end London eateries, to bargain basements and enjoy all types of food.

The food here is very good quality. Enjoyed the range, which is varied, as did my 2 kids. It strikes a good balance between quality, presentation (The dishes were well plated up and we sat in a modernised, yet rustic old mill by the river) and value. We had (2 adults, 2 kids) had 3 courses with a few drinks for under £100. Maybe it’s because I’m used to London, but that was slightly cheaper than anticipated.

Its been a few months since I was here but the food was incredible and always has been I had the Steak and my partner had the Wagyu Burger. The steak was very well cooked to the perfect temperature and seasoned beautifully. The Waygu burger however was the best burger I have eaten! Much better than any Byron or Five guys or anything like that! The quality of the meat really shone. I would highly recommend going here if possible. Lovely setting and lovely cosy (but not claustrophobic) building and very friendly atmosphere. The staff were pleasant and not trying to rush you out of the door unlike other restaurants in the area. I can not fault this place. The bar downstairs is also very nice serving a good selection of beers wines and spirits.

Amazing unique location, quaint buildings nestled on the riverside. We sat outside as had our dog with us. Picnic tables not quite in style, very rickety, in dire need of some TLC plus covered in bird poo. Great menu choice, good quality food and very quickly served to us by friendly waitresses. As it got darker we couldn't see our food so candles would have been a nice touch for those dining outside. Although they did switch on some upstairs lights, which cast out some light on us. Not sure if this was intentional or not but it certainly helped! Their barman was a large chap who wasn't particularly welcoming and could benefit from some staff training, so for this reason I can't rate 5 out of 5 on this visit.

I was regulars with that pub with my partners many times there obviously we throughly enjoyed it as everyone was so friendly until few months ago, the young waitress was quite flirty with my partners which is off putting! She did it few times ruined our enjoyment times together. Two months ago I asked her what I want to order then she asked him what did I say? And also last time she asked him for a drink or anything but she didn’t asked me for what I want which is totally unprofessional! No need for her to behave like that. I won’t go there ever again! I am disappointed with her unprofessional behaviour! She has no respect. Should I ought complain to the manager about her?

First time back at Brampton Mill for a while and somewhat disappointed. While there were several lagers to choose from, there was only one bitter (the second one was unavailable). Decided to have the rustic bread with olives and a side of chunky chips as a sharing snack. Four small pieces of bread, a dozen or so olives with oil and dukkah (no explanation, but looked like a cross between muesli and birdseed). The chips were a wide variety of different sizes and shades of brown. Altogether not the best for value for £8.00 compared with the local pub. However, the staff were friendly and efficient.

The food here is almost always good and the menu has a good range. The kids portions are huge, ok value but could be smaller and cheaper. Good selection of ale and lager, as well as an extensive wine list lovely location with ample parking, a little remote but lots of local taxis. Take the Ferry with Captain Tim to and from Godmanchester for some added fun and scenery. Staff generally friendly and attentive. Great outdoor areas for dining or drinking in the summer months. Overall a lovely place to go, Just make sure you book well in advance on special occasions like mother's or Valentine's day.

Big fan of this pub-cum-restaurant, just outside Brampton. Excellent setting in an old watermill on the river, surrounded by camping ground. The place itself is massive, with tables upstairs and down, but plenty of staff to keep up, and the kitchen hasn't disappointed yet.

The food is good, with large portions and a varied menu (you can see this online). No specials, so just a la carte, but there's a dish there for everyone.

Kid friendly, with a varied children's menu.

Plenty of parking.

Can get busy, especially on Sundays, so do book ahead.

Great location with fantastic views, a variety of great outdoor spaces and good interior ones. Staff are friendly and the quality of the food is pretty much surpassed elsewhere, but you do pay for it. I recommend trying their salmon dishes, as its so fresh I hadn't tasted anything like it as far as taste was concerned. A good starter to try is the bread with camembert and onion chutney. There is also a good selection of beers wines and spirits, most of which are not available elsewhere at other restraints and bars, so if you want something different this is the place to go.

Service was nice and pleasant although there were a few areas of concern
- upon arrival the host was busy on the phone for a while and no one else attended to us
- food was well cooked although roast potatoes were less than crispy and a small portion along with the veg for the size of the meal.
- crackling was lovely and crispy but needed salt for full flavour.
- the road to access it is in appalling condition. I was worried I had popped a tire or suspension at one point.

However the atmosphere, sevice and dessert were excellent.

The food was ok although it could have done with being hotter, the plates were aired so that did not help, we told the waitress, she apologised but did not go any further, we then had an issue with the bill. I ordered a white wine/lemonade spritzer, we were charged £1.10 for 175ml of lemonade in my white wine, there was no way I could have had that much in my glass as it wasn't big enough!! Eventually had it deducted from the bill as a gesture. We visited as a one off as we were travelling back North from London and called in for dinner.

Brampton Mill never lets us down. It's not the cheapest place by some margin, but the quality of food and drink available, as well as the gorgeous riverside location, makes it worth the spend.

If you're not eating, the small but pleasant bar area provides a vibrant atmosphere, but it's the outdoor seating that makes the Mill.

The service can, however, vary a bit. There's a strong core of permanent staff, but the seasonal and/or shorter term staff can fall short of what would be expected at times.

Visited twice, once for a drink and once for food. I ordered a bottle of wine from the menu and he asked if I wanted a much better wine for a little more money. Got a £40 bottle half price! On our second visit had the pork belly with scallops that sounded really appealling... I wouldn't bother with the scallops as they were £4, fairly small, only 2 of them and felt like an afterthought hidden behind the potatoes. The pork was a little dry and not that good. However the potatoes were the star of the plate - really outstanding.

Book in advance using the website to get the desired time slot. Access to car park is via a rather pot holey link road. The Restaurant has many levels requiring you to climb stairs so if you cannot use the stairs, please make it clear to the staff. You can either go a la carte or if going on Tuesday or Wednesday - consider the fixed price 2 or 3 course menu. The food is very good and you can choose some interesting gins to accompany your meal. Some foodey photos are attached. Probably best restaurant in Huntingdon.

I am staying with my mother for a couple of weeks and decided to check this place out for the 1st time. What a find! Beautiful location in a lovely, interesting and historic location. They have got this place right and it ticked all of my boxes. I have been in the pub / restaurant trade for 35 years and I have a pub myself in Suffolk. The management here know what they are doing, that's for sure! Thank you for an excellent couple of pints in a lovely setting! I will be back for lunch / dinner soon!

This place has such potential. The building is amazing but it just lacks the final touches that would make it stunning. The food was average and the price did not reflect the quality. The service was good. The driveway leading to the mill is also in very poor condition and my car bottomed out going through one of the pot holes.

All in all this place has massive potential, but didn’t live up to my expectations.

Have been coming to the Brampton Mill for many years, seen it have many owners and the quality and price vary accordingly. The location is fantastic on a summer day, sitting in the meander in the river overlooking the surrounding countryside - we take an hour walking from home across the meadow, stopping for food and a beer before heading home. This time around it was four star, helped by the April mini heatwave!

The pub is large and nice inside with a good atmosphere. The service was mostly good but it might depend on who you get. The food was okay but over priced for what it was. To pay £15-16 for a burger and chips I would have expected a little more added then a thin slice of 'Irish cheese'. Not enough dressing on the salad so quite dry (especially as it include kale) and okay crab and lobster fish cakes.

Nice to sit outside with a drink. Food okay previously, but was told I wasn't allowed to order an appetizer unless I order a three-course meal, since it's Mother's Day... Obviously they're busy, but we took my mam there for a drink and fancied a bit of food, without buying a full meal. Very limiting, and they allowed us to read through the whole menu because telling us it wasn't valid.

This is a rarity - a child friendly pub! we were regulars (every couple of weeks) before we had our little one over a year ago and we hesitant about taking a toddler into the bar. We shouldn't have been - the staff were great and they had child seats and an area away from non-family diners so he could chatter as much as he wanted without disturbing the world!
Great service, will be back again soon.

Very disappointing. Mushrooms with stilton and thyme did not have any stilton or thyme. Asked waitress to raise the issue with the chef but wasn't interested and we had no response. Beer was cloudy and flat. The rest of the food was poor. The ladies toilets had raw sewage on the floor with no notice warning customers. It is a shame since the pub has a super location and could be so much better.

Interesting menu with some very good food on offer. Both the mains and deserts went down well with our party of four and the selection of drinks was also quite good. The staff were friendly and helpful although checking in for our reservation was a bit slow. Quite good value for money. Have been here before and will definitely come back again.

Went in with a family party of 8. Had a fantastic table next to the waterwheel. Food was really tasty and well cooked, service was speedy and polite. Only negatives were the vegetable portions with the meals could be a bit more generous and the toilets need a bit of sprucing up to match the rest of the restaurant. Would recommend.

Stopped in for a late lunch, nothing was too much trouble, staff were great and we got served by what looked to be the Manager on duty. Excellent service, great atmosphere in the rear garden with plenty of shade or sun whichever was the preference on a really awesome summers day. Great food, excellent service, thank you.

A most friendly welcome was followed by a great table 'in the gods'. The food was excellent. The whole experience was a delight. The restaurant has a 5 star food hygiene rating and the restaurant was packed with a combination of families, couples and those on business. We will be back!

Located amongst beautiful views The Brampton Mill really is a hidden gem.

The Mill has been renovated to a beautiful standard and has a beautiful traditional english menu to compliment it.

Date and family friendly - I recommend this place for all to try at least once :)

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere and food surpasses the competition (at least that which I have sampled) in the local area. The river and woodland mean it is enjoyable to sit outside on the tables in summer. And in winter it is cosy to sit indoors in armchairs by the log fires.

This is a lovely venue, just got back from a meal with good friends. The festive menu was great value, very tasty and just the right size. Very cosy and beautiful decor. The waiting staff were really helpful, very friendly and above all happy. Lovely experience will definitely visit again.

We live very close to the mill and hoped this would be the place we would bring friends and family. Nice but a bit stuck up. Staff very rarely say hello and thank you for your custom. Management need to address this because that attitude stems from them. Captain Tim however is great.
