Booked ladt Sunday for afternoon tea for the 6th December, my Mums 94th birthday. Explained that for one member of the party of four was allergic to sea food and could we have an alternative. The young lady took all the details and booked us for 2pm.

On arriving we were told the booking had not been made, but the staff apologised and seated us. As the booking had not been made we waited a while for the food. When it arrived it looked very nice but on closer inspection its wasnt to the expected standard. The replacement for the seafood was indescribable as no explaination was given to what it was, it wasnt at all pleasant.
I asked a staff member could look into why this mixup occurred, giving her a ruff time that I had rang to book, she said she would take it up with the manager, Im still waiting for a response.

In all an unpleasant experience, I felt due to the booking not being registered the food was just put together without any thought. Whilst the staff were friendly enough, 1 star award, we certainly wont be dashing back.

Location. Plenty of parking.
Lovely reception. Room has fridge, hard mattress, good amount of plugs. Shower nice. Some toilitries supplied. Great tv and easy to use. Quiet room. But think there is only 5 guests.
Could improve.
Water in room. Better coffee sachets. Stevia as the sweetener. Towels on bed as hard to find. Also parking is opposite which is not clear upon arrival.
But don't pay for the breakfast dissapointing. Cold food but nice taste. Such a shame. Presentation could definitely be improved.
Coffee awful. Need a fresh pot. Plus staff in restaurant are like zombies. Would be nice if they served the coffee. The station where you can help your self is dirty and unnecessary.
Overall would stay again but wouldn't have breakfast.
It would only takes a few changes to make it really nice.

Visiting Sunderland for work and was recommended to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland. Location is perfect as close to main roads and parking is provided in the football grounds. I stayed whilst to football games were played so cannot say what parking would be like. It is a £6 taxi trip into Sunderland town centre using Station Taxis, kindly booked by the staff at the front desk. You could walk in but it takes 30 minutes. The hotel is very well kept and looks brand new throughout. The bar and restaurant are very nice with friendly and polite staff always on hand. The rooms are well presented with the usual queen size bed, lovely soft and firm pillows. There is also the nicer options expected such as a 32' HD TV, tea service, safe, fridge, iron & board and proper cloths hangers. I am very happy with my visit and would stay again.

Me and my mate and his son stayed here on 10/4/18 as was going to the footy match and didn't want the long journey home so we booked b&b in advance so to save the hassle of the long journey home and getting home in the early hours

As for the hotel and service

Cannot fault from when we walked in to when we left the following day.
Anything we asked for was no problem to them
The breakfast in the morning was superb

Well the only minor fault was they knew there was three of us in the room but only put two cups in there so had to get another but not a problem

Will definitely been using it again if have to come up and watch my team play sunderland again

Excellent hotel at a good price

Thank you

This was our 2nd visit to the Hilton on our first visit we had no problems all the staff were friendly and professional, on our latest visit we found that the breakfast was unappetizing we had breakfast on the first 2 mornings then went to other places for breakfast on our next 2 mornings. The female manager who was on duty Saturday night was very rude to staff on duty which effected our stay and made us feel very uncomfortable so we did not use any of the hotel amenities from then on. People with such negative and rude attitudes should not be in the hospitality industry. All of the other staff we met were very friendly and polite.
We shall not be returning to this Hotel

We turned on the TV only to be greeted with a warning telling us we had checked out when we were just settling down for the night and to contact reception which caused a bit of a panic, and we had some one banging on our door after half 11 at night only to put some clothes on and answer the door to nobody in sight. The room itself was queen room which to be honest just seemed like a bog standard room and the bathroom had a smell to it which resulted in me running the shower for 30 minutes on hot to try and take the smell away. When we checked out we were not asked how our stay was either.

Spent the night here on the 11th Feb. Fantastic hotel the room was so bright and spacious with the most comfiest of beds . The staff were also fantastic had a lovely warm welcome on our arrival from a lovely Irish Lass who,s name I cant remember so was really impressed. As we were checking out I was running things in my head to see when we could next get down for a visit. We have stayed in a few places in Sunderland but this will now be our first choice. Just cant say enough about this hotel . Brilliant

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton 1/1/2017. This was our second at the hotel and I it proved even better than the first. The Queen room was well appointed clean and very comfy. We had a couple of fillet steaks in the Karbon grill they were superb. But most of all I wish to mention Chris and David on reception. They were kind, helpful and very professional. A real asset to the Hilton. Thanks to all concerned and we will see you all soon. Peter and Jane Calvert.

Fantastic 4 day stay, everyone was so helpful and happy. The manager Chris was so helpful and friendly so a huge thank you to him, we will be back to stay again, and hope he is still with the hotel. The dining staff were excerlant and catered for all we needed, and again all happy faces. Our room was so comfy and spotlesly clean. We would reccomend this hotel to anyone, it is the Best hotel in Sunderland.

Cleanleness great , we were with party but treated like commoners in restaraunt all shoved to one side and differrent cheap food to other diner's had to queue for food and could only have what we were giving felt like school dinners we paid just under 400 pound and expected more as we have not been treated like this another Parry holidays your staff were brilliant just the food that let your place down

Very comfortable and well appointed modern hotel. Nice bar, although range of ales very limited, only bottled Doombar that I could see. Short walk to the Stadium of Light, hotel uses their car park - not sure how that works on match days.

Good food at breakfast and dinner, but slow service and not checking if we wanted more drinks at dinner loses this otherwise good hotel a fifth star for me.

Welcoming and pleasant staff, all helpful to different queries, top service and quality of food, comfortable and clean rooms, convenient location close walking distance to town centre and access to bus and metro nearby. Only downside was that our WiFi connection some days in room was inaccessible not allowing us to work. Other than that, a great experience, definitely returning and highly recommended.

Very pleased. Easy to find as it is located next to the stadium. New, clean, friendly and all that. Free parking. Shame we arrived too late would have liked to try some dishes from the menu. Food for all tastes on there. Surprisingly quiet at the weekend (I guess it's because there was no game on that weekend). Would recommend and would stay again if going somewhere in Sunderland vicinity.

Hotel is nice, handy for the North East when on business. Only one gripe but its a big one. Paid £4.80 for a pint of Lager which is quite steep....but when i asked for a drop of lime in the price went up to £5.60 !!!! Not tight by any means but 80p for a squirt of lime !!! Dont pay that in decent bars in Manchester centre. Robbing b'stards !! Hotel is ok but use the bar at your peril !!!

Central location. Gorgeous hotel. Friendly staff, really go out their way to help and address you in a polite and professional manor. Food is amazing, large dining areas nicely decorated. Room size is more than sufficient, comfy double bed with large fluffy pillows and plenty of lighting. Large 40' TV with all the free view channels. Large spacious en suite bathroom too.

Awful staff. And the duty manager was ignorant as hell. She had a big attitude problem. As a Hilton Honours member I would expect better. Stayed here twice and won't be returning. Both times the staff were rude. One of the reception staff was speaking to his colleague in an awful way. It has to be the worst Hilton I have stayed, and I've stayed in a lot of them.

Great hotel was made very welcome by reception. We were on the 3rd floor and it was quiet. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Everything looked smart and clean.

We arrived on a Saturday when a game was on. The car parking was organised and the stewards were really good at directing me. The prices were not inflated and it was good value for money.

Beautiful hotel. Spacious, clean and tidy room with plugs by the bed! Stunning lobby area, and the gym was the best 'hotel gym' that I've ever seen. Plenty of weights, and lots of space. The food was very nice and all of the service I received from both the staff in the hotel and in the bar was top quality. Will definitely stay here again!

OK so it's the hylton, so restaurant top dollar but they can't cook a steak to save their lives. Rear came medium to well then came blue. Dripping cooked chips came very nice replace with steak then came oil fried £25. The dancing Betty two steaks and wine £20 on a Saturday and cooked as requested. And that's a pub.

Excellent location with parking inside the stadium car park. Beautiful hotel with helpful and efficient staff. Rooms are spacious, modern and spotlessly clean, with clever design features that show some thought went into the planning. Comfortable bed with plenty of extra pillows, altogether a great stay and would recommend.

Afternoon tea purchased via itison, very good value and good quality for the price paid. Only disappointment was the lack of choice in sandwiches, and having whipped cream instead of clotted cream with the scones. Very good service and nice relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant/bar, would return to try the Sunday lunch.

I only visit the bar during lunchtime for one week a year during Graduation Week at the stadium opposite (I have a long-standing gig with the University). No problems! Steady service and a nice looking dining and bar area there is. Never busy for that July week surprisingly, but a nice atmosphere at least.

Nice new (2 years) hotel. 3 floors so 120 ish rooms. Great for disabled guests as dedicated rooms. Good Check in experience. Room and bathroom first class. Shower could be hotter. Breakfast ok. Could do with staff asking if it's ok and a few off menu items like porridge. Otherwise great value!

Parking on a match day (and not going to the match) was very difficult with gate staff sending you back and forth apparently so focused on the match that the hotel isn't there but the hotel itself was nice. Modern, light and clean, just don't arrive on a Saturday if you can help it!

Beautiful Hotel with a great bar downstairs, the grounds are immaculate and theres never rubbish or mess. The drink prices however are very high so if you're after a nightout this isnt the place to go, food however is a different story. The foods nice and is served very quick.

Lovely hotel with a room far better than I was expecting. I stayed only a short time for work, but the room was comfortable and clean, came with a great bathroom, and I couldn't fault the service provided by the staff. I would definitely recommend that anyone stay here.

Superb beds and pillows, spacious and quiet room, very fresh decor, breakfast was good, friendly staff. Parking was very close and price was very reasonable. I stayed on a non-match day, so I can't be sure what it is like when Sunderland are playing at home.

No problems whatsoever. Great staff, drinks and food. Rooms are clean and presentable as is the lobby and bar. Stayed here a few times now and each occasion was the same high standard. Shame about the rubbish team I went to see next door.

Does what is says on the tin...is clean, tidy and modern. Beds are comfy too. Right beside the stadium of light but no issue with that. Close enough to the centre of town for heading out and also the train station is close by.
