My wife and I found 53 Degrees North by chance whilst staying in Buxton for two nights recently and instantly felt relaxed in its warm and inviting surroundings. We were served by Lucy, a really lovely, friendly member of staff who gave us great advice on the beers and food. We could have chosen to eat somewhere else in Buxton on our second evening but knowing how friendly and relaxed the place was and certain of good food and drink, we returned and had another thoroughly enjoyable evening. Its great to meet staff who obviously love their job and their customers. Can thoroughly recommend.

My wife and I popped over to Buxton on the bike on the weekend and found this little gem excellent food great coffee diverse menu very reasonably priced, staff were both very friendly helpful and welcomed two leather clad biker's. They didn't even say anything when I took my boots off and sat there in my socks, it was a very nice day. They welcome boots and dogs. Very chilled and relaxed bar/eatery, definitely recommend a visit if you're in town.

We keep coming back here time and time again and we are never disappointed. Food is amazing, place is cosy and welcoming especially when there's a fire made. We love it and we travel all the way from ST11 sometimes just to have a lovely flat white coffee. Travellers and families are welcomed and dogs! Must visit if you go to Buxton.

An amazing find. 5 stars for everything from the excellent service to the relaxed atmosphere, lovely decor, delicious food, dog friendly, value for money and the house wine was very nice. If we were in Buxton for longer than just the day, we would return without a doubt. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.

On a cold, wet February Saturday, 53 Degrees North provided a welcome retreat. It was fairly quiet when we went in for a coffee, but the menu tempted us to eat. Tartiflette was rich and warming; the fish fingers in the sandwich were home made and crispy; and the chips were excellent.

Fantastically cosy friendly pub, great selection of ales, beers - some German on draught, and wine. Ordered burgers and thoroughly enjoyed them with an ale in front of the log burning fire. Will definitely return again if in the area.

Subtly lit, welcoming atmosphere, and full of quirky architectural details, like the arched stone entrance to the toilets. The decor is warm and, again, quirky. I particularly like the stone Green Man nestled in one corner.

Warm, friendly, chilled out and a tempting lunch menu. Always a few surprises on the specials board too. It's not far from the market so a good choice if you're heading up the hill to Upper Buxton.

Was really looking forward to visiting this place after reading the reviews, however I ended up disappointed. The venue and beers were good but the burgers were really average. Shame as they looked awesome.

My Private Drinking Haunt. When it is time to relax & drop the day this is my first port of call. Love the Staff, the decor & the wine. The food is just what the doctor ordered. #Marvellous

Looks good from the outside , went off recommendations but appalled that a 13 year old was not allowed in at 6.40. Policy is no under 18s after 7pm. Thought that children were welcome!

The former Beltane, re-branded and reopened as this new bar back in late 2016 I think. Nice little place with a great selection of cask ales to be had among other goodies. Recommended.

A lovely atmosphere, good food, smallish menu which is good-food fresh and not nucked!! Great beer, good service. Gets busy- popular. Our favourite place in Buxton

Well kept beer, nice food, nice decor, pleasant staff. I think thornbridge Jaipur is on all the time but they also had a jolly nice pedigree on my second visit.

We went on spec. on Mother's day and had the best Sunday Roast we have had in a long time!
I must also say this place has a lovely, calm ambience.

We were attracted by the quiet atmosphere and classy rustic decor and were pleased with the nice-quality pub food from a small but broad menu.

Nice little bars, a few craft ales, but felt like it was missing a responsible adult running the place. Food was average.
