I went for bouldering, rather than ropes (which they also do). New entire facility, and in top condition. Cafe not yet open as of this posting date, but has decent space upstairs. I've been three times so far. Im reviewing as a bouldering novice with no experience of other facilities.

Very polite and helpful staff for my induction snd on reception. It is costly to go unequipped and hire, so buying own shoes would quickly pay off.

Separate kids zone upstairs is great, as are separate warm-up and speciality training areas.

If walking in with valuables, take a padlock (ideally combination) for the lockers.

Modern loos, with with wheelchair capacity cubicle.
Plenty of free parking space (hope they can close it at night or it invites unwelcome caravan stayers)

Nice relaxed atmosphere\\u200b, music playing. Does occasional 'lights out' events. Caters for Kids' parties and all sorts of training.

Big place with some interesting features, like the top out block with an auto-belay descent. Good kids area, though it needs another way of getting back up to it that doesn't involve going half way round the building. Lavish retro-industrial decor in the cafe with lovely views over the grounds.

The staff on the day comprised one very friendly and helpful lady, serving at both the front desk and cafe, and one guy who completely ignored us.

Other climbers there on the day I visited were slightly lacking in wall etiquette.

Ultimately, it didn't really have any atmosphere. That might well improve with time, given it has only recently opened and they're still putting the finishing touches to it. Maybe it just hasn't developed it's own personality yet, or maybe I just hit it on an off day.

Nicer than Reading Climbing Centre, helpful staff, nice cafe area although not yet catering as their kitchen facility was very limited at time of visit. There's also a cool climbing room for little ones, with a slide to the floor below (be warned, if you have a bolting preschooler, then you'll want someone on the ground floor ready to curb your little one's make-a-run-for-it enthusiasm as they come out of the slide tunnel!). If they did some good, basic cafe grub then they'd get 5 stars.

Definitely one of the best climbing centres i have been to. Bouldering is fantastic here with one of the best competition walls in the uk. Very challenging and definitely helps you improve your techniques and skills. The staff here are amazing! Very friendly and always here to help if there is any problems. There is also a section where there is a pull up bar, trx and finger training section. Highly recommended to visit if you are in the area. But then saying that I always travel 30/35 minutes to get here!

Probably one of the best bouldering centres In the country. Suberb route setting on an excellent range of walls from slabs, top outs, overhangs and a cave. Has some roped climbs too including auto belays but bouldering is their specialty.

The staff are super nice and professional.

There is a kids section but it's a bit average. Has a range of climbing related exercise equipment and a circuit board. There is a decent cafe too with a good view of the hall.

Oakwood has all the facilities of a great climbing center imo. It has a great variety of walls like: Competition, Child, Rope walls, i.e, first timers and vertical walls with over-hangs for the competent climber.

They do course for beginners which are great and on the whole it seems very popular most evenings.

This place is huge! Best bouldering centre I’ve ever been to. This place has everything you could ask for: slabs, a huge overhang wall, a super difficult roof bouldering area, a top out area, circuit boards, fingerboards, campus boards and other training tools. £10 for a one-off session. Plenty of space for parking.

My 3 year old son has a lot of energy so I thought this climbing place would be perfect. He loved it, amazingly clean. It's like brand new. It wasn't busy either which is a bonus. I would like to do climbing here, I need to book a course. The prices are good, will definitely recommend to people.

Awesome bouldering centre! They set really varied and interesting problems here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The cafe is also great and I recommend having a cake with your coffee. Please bring in the toasties soon (I'll stay longer if there's more food options ).

They were resetting the comp wall, so I'll have to come back another time.
Otherwise, fair set of blocks, no exture/grip surface, variety of angles and types of holds. Overall a positive experience, shame that I don't have a car to get myself there.

Fantastic selection of climbs for all ages and abilities. Mostly bouldering, a few top ropes, training/stretching area with weights and bench. Good cafe. Best facility in for miles. It's not heated though, so bring a jumper if you're coming in early!

Full marks for customer service! Great problems and excellent facilities too but special huge thanks to the wonderful Emma for contacting me after I left my squidgy warm up ball there and for remembering how dear it was to me... Amazing! 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pretty much brand spanking new with lots of choice and space. Can't wait to get my grandson down to the exclusive kid's area - he's going to love it. Nice also to see a couple of familiar faces on the staff, too!

Excellent place for bouldering, with a good range of differently angled climbing walls and difficulty levels. Well priced and good hire equipment. The staff are most helpful, approachable and friendly. Would recommend.

Decent sized boulder gym especially as there is nothing better in the area, but holds are very dirty and need cleaning more often. Pity the routes are not changed more frequently like they are in most London gyms.

Well maintained climbing centre with friendly staff and regulars. Great bouldering problems that are changed regularly and provide a challenge for all skill ranges. Excellent for beginners and seasoned climbers.

Fantastic climbing centre with friendly and quality instructors. Has a bespoke bouldering wall and also top rope climbing too. It's bright and well lit, making it very inviting to climb and have fun.

Great indoor bouldering and climbing options with nice facilities (and climbing shoes to hire) they do camps which are great for learning climbing basics and I would come here on a weekly basis

Great place for some family fun. Definately recommended! Staff are great and the bouldering section very well organised and will work for both complete beginners and experienced climbers!

Great climbing centre for bouldering. Setting is pretty challenging and sometimes confusing. Wish they had more roped walls. Recommended though if you're into bouldering.

Only been once. Seems like an incredibly well kept gym - mats are all very clean. Staff seemed quite quiet. It's a long walk from any train stations, I discovered!

Be warned, once you've been once you'll want to go back. Great place, nice facilities, trendy coffee lounge and above all really friendly and helpful staff.

Good place to climb for all levels. I have just started climbing and I was struggling on one wall, when a more experienced climber stepped in and gave me some help

Good for bouldering and an excellent training area with circuit boards, gym etc. The coffee shop is good for non climbers to relax or for a drink after climbing.

4 by Richard Pearse Review source

Great for bouldering as there is plenty to climb yourself. Friendly crowd and staff. Try to go off peak as during peak times there are a lot of climbers there.

Excellent purpose built climbing centre
Here today for the 1st Youth Climbing Symposium, a treat for Lewis, getting tips from the world's best.

Largest competition wall out of all bouldering places Iv been to (arch and white spider). Only downfall is the lack of bars like the one in the arch.

Great bouldering, good atmosphere, nice staff and loads of parking space. Nice and warm inside unlike the Reading centre.

5 by Guy Hancox Review source

Great place for climbers of all abilities, friendly staff and good café. Don't be fooled, some hard stuff here also!
